And also I don't see why people can't support both schools. They aren't in the same conference and don't really compete for the same goals. I also don't see how you can hold a grudge against someone for wanting to go to big time college football games in one of the best atmospheres in the sport but I digress.

Are ULL fans obligated to support LSU because they are from LA, in your opinion?

Is indifference acceptable?

ULL fans nor anyone else are obligated to do anything.

All I was saying is that it's understandable that there are a lot of people around the state that would want to support the SEC team with the legendary venue and atmosphere on Saturdays. I don't see why that's such a crime that's all.

But what makes them different from the other in state schools?

NOTHING. The OTHER in state schools have never been to a college WS. ULL and LAFFY in general think they are better than LSU and BR. CITY wise they are right. Aside from LSU...............

Of course it's understandable. Hell I'm sure at least 95% of ULL fans have been to an LSU game at least once and the atmosphere is great. I was just trying to explain where some of the feelings you guys get that "ULL hates LSU sooooooooklo much" may come from. Although I don't think it is to the extent that you believe.

While I agree, I think there are two sides to this. I think there is a "gasp, how dare you not pull the mothership" vibe from a lot of LSU fans. I think that's unjust - ULL fans aren't obligated to do anything regarding LSU.

There's definitely a penis envy sect amongst the ULL fans as well. Not denying that.

I'll take this to my grave. Lived in both, partied in both. Lafayette suits my preferences better.

Disclaimer: this is my personal opinion. Don't go all crazy on me.

For every 1 ULL fan that hates LSU, there are 1000 LSU fans claiming that our whole fan base hates LSU.

It's comes off as really insecure guys, chill. It's like you're desperate for validation.

I can't stand UL fans, they whine, lack self awareness and generally don't know what the hell they are talking about when it comes to sports (although every school has some, ex. The Rant)

How could there not be? LSU has 100x the money, facilities, coaches, players, etc etc etc that we do. But our "envy" doesn't consist of thinking "OMG I wish we were LSU" 24/7. It's more along the lines of "shite we need to build this program so we can try to bargain with these mid/high recruits that are committing to LSU"

So you hate those types of fans, no matter what team they support. Most people would agree with you there.

Three pages of posts and no mention of 1984 shows a lack of knowledge by both LSU and ULL fans on here. Kind of like the Hatfields and McCoys forgetting what their original feud was. Perhaps an old cajun fan will chime in about the reason.

As an LSU grad born in '85, I'm interested in this 1984 event.

As much as LSU fans hate LSU, is it any wonder that ULL fans hate LSU?

USL tried to change their name the University of Louisiana. They got the Board the state schools fall under to approve and were in fact UL for a brief time. LSU challenged and a judge ruled the legislature held the power to rename universities. They were forced to revert back to USL. Then in the 90s, the law was created to allow for at least two schools to become UL-Xs, with clear intent that no school was to have the UL name or market itself as the University of Louisiana. That's when USL tricked NLU into changing with them and has been trying to get around the law ever since.
