Here in mississippi we have conceal carry.... Which still has ALOT of restrictions. But we can go to a saturday course and pay $80 and get an enhanced carry which makes it leagl to carry just about anywhere except a courthouse when in session. When traveling out of state, what would other states honor when traveling?

There's a neat color-coded map in relation to this that I've seen posted. Maybe someone has it?

Ive seen that before... Does tht honor the conceal carry? Or the enhanced also. Because with the enhanced this is the only restrictions
• CAN NOT carry in courtrooms during a judicial proceeding .
• CAN NOT carry in any police, sheriff or highway patrol station or any detention facility, prison or jail.
• CAN NOT carry any place prohibited by federal law.

Everywhere else is legal

This is a good site for reference. Typically when carrying in states other than the one you reside in, you have to abide by their laws set for conceal carry and any other gun laws they have.

I know schools are currently gun-free zones. Most churches too.

While i would never and do not have the need to ever carry in a church or school zone... Here is the difference in the regular cc and the enhanced... Does this mean in ms it is leagl to carry in a church with the enhanced though?

Firearms Permit Vs Enhanced Carry Permits

Firearms Permit
• CAN NOT carry in a Courtroom or Law Enforcement Office or detention center.
• CAN NOT carry in Polling Place or meeting of the Government.
• CAN NOT carry at any School, College or Athletic Event.
• CAN NOT carry at establishment or portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises primarily devoted to such purpose .
• CAN NOT carry inside the passenger terminal of any airport .
• CAN NOT carry in any church or other place of worship.
• CAN NOT carry any place prohibited by federal law.
• CAN NOT carry where Private Business displays “NO FIREARMS” signage
CAN NOT carry in Parades where permits are required.

Enhanced Carry Permit
• CAN NOT carry in courtrooms during a judicial proceeding .
• CAN NOT carry in any police, sheriff or highway patrol station or any detention facility, prison or jail.
• CAN NOT carry any place prohibited by federal law.

It would depend on whether or not schools and churches being gun free are mandated by federal law

Your enhanced carry will not overrule a buisness/private property owner telling you to not carry on his/her property. This kinda sounds like a scam for MS to earn an extra $80 from CCL holders

Check the reciprocity maps previously posted to see if you can carry in those states.

But, you must follow the firearms laws of those states. Be sure to do your homework.

I wish LA had enhanced carry...

You also have to be careful in Class 1 cities that issue their own permits seperate from state issued permits. Those cities will not honor out of state permits, even if the state itself does.

oleyeller,
This is a situation of, "When in Rome, do as the Romans." If in LA, you will need to follow the cc laws of LA. Follow the link below and do your research for the state(s) you intend to travel to and cc in. I don't see that LA, for example, makes a distinction between MS enhanced vs basic cc permit.

Here's an additional link for more info.LINK Click on the state in question and it takes you to the concealed carry laws for that particular state.

No shite huh. I really wish there was some sort of next step. Also not to hijack the thread but in Mississippi don't you have to have a strap over the back of the gun as another retention device?

WV has no "enhanced" carrying permit, so you'll just be stuck with the laws the rest of us have to live with.
