well if you are looking to build something top of the line you are off to a great start. May as well bump the RAM up 32 or even 64

I have that same ram (8 gigs), and I love it.

I also have the gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7850 and couldn't be more satisfied. I can only imagine what 2 7950's will do.

Get the gigabyte X79 UP4. Should jump to 2 7970s while you're at it!

I have the 3820 and single 7970 all watercooled right now. Hopefully by summer I'll have my second 7970 in the loop.

I have the same RAM except the black low profile version. It works very well when OCing the 3820.

Make sure to grab the seasonic x850 or x750, or the corsair ax850. I'd want the best psu possible to power it.

What cooler were you looking at getting?

A comparable build im considering:

CPU: AMD fx-8350 4.0 ghz $189
Mobo: MSI AM3+ $69
GPU: 7870 $219

total for 3 components: $477. Not as godly as an i-7 with dual 7950s but pretty darn good imo. will need a higher watt psu and 8 or 16 gb good ram. 120 gig SSD and 1 TB HDD
