NC football would stand to gain immensely from becoming part of the SEC.
They will get more money from the BTN. You are also failing to see the academic side and what being in the CIC brings in in terms of prestige and research money (which dwarfs football money).

About archaic bundled TV revenue which will be gone in less then ten years? OK Jeff.

Link? You don't think they can adapt to make money in your scenario? They already get cash for BTNToGo. They'll get theirs. It's not going to be a free market product.

Mike Slive puts down his scotch for just long enough to get up from his rocker, laugh his arse off, make Jim Delany kiss it and put it back on, and then sit back down.

That's a different issue and a valid point. I'm kind of torn on whether the bundling model will completely go away, especially that soon. I know a lot of people hate it, but it's probably cheaper. But, I suspect they could adapt.

With ideas like this.

i've been joking about that for about a year now
it actually kinda makes sense so long as there is no exit fee
pair em with Pitt to grab the Pennsylvania markets

another one that doesn't understand the difference between football and business.

The current war is TV sets and your boy Mike Slive is getting his arse kicked on that front with little room to expand to approach the number of sets the BTN has that are required to pay royalties. If the BTN adds the Atlanta market and solidifies the other markets we're looking at here it is game, set and match. SEC just doesn't have the population base.

The SEC Network revenue will dwarf the BTN's by the time everything is all said and done.

That would make a whole lot more sense if anyone in Atlanta gave a frick about GT athletics

More mouths to feed with less money to go around...
Besides why would the casual fan give a fk about TV dollars anyways? Watering down the product so Delaney can get rich? OK Jeff.
Although this is most likely just a troll by Maryland 24/7 to get website hits

You aren't grasping the point of this conversation. It doesn't matter if the TV sets tune in or not. It's guaranteed money for simply having a team in the market.

 They get paid per # of cable subs, not based on ratings points. Atlanta adds a lot of TV sets.

Why the hell are companies going to want to pay for and carry stations that no one is going to watch? Just to bring subscription costs up?

Sec is probably NDs last choice to be honest.

In your future TV dollars don't matter. Well...ok.
The point is that the content isn't free and whatever medium is used to deliver it in 10 years (and it will be mostly TV still) there will be a price to pay for the content. The BTN and Big Ten (and other conferences) own the content. Well, apparently except for the Big 12 and their idiotic deal that they cut.

not if they increase the pie by the at least the same amount as the teams are currently making.

how is the product "watered down". The teams at the top can still be good, expanding might help teams like tOSU and Michigan recruit new areas.
