Recent songs to stand the test of time.

Songs like stairway to heaven, don't stop believing, hotel California, etc will always be played and great. What are some recent songs (last 5-10 years) that will be around 30 years from now on classic stations?

you're the one who likes high-pitched screeching like Zep and Journey

Yeah I'm the only person that likes zeppelin.

It's very simple. Kafka is a troll. If you feed him, he will continue to troll you. If you ignore him, he will go away.
Before you object - you just responded to his charge that you're the only person who likes Led Zeppelin (ETA: Think about that for a second). Before you type, think once, think twice, think thrice and don't feed the troll next time.
(Don't feel bad, I do it all the time - just try to break the habit - especially with obvious trolls.)

I'm old, I don't get why people wouldn't just be friendly in a music forum. Oh well, what a dick.

Think about it this way - despite being hated by the critics at the time, Zeppelin never missed a meal or a car payment, or the opportunity to bang groupies all the way until Bonham died. They never re-formed (except for very, very special occasions) and never had to work again.
They passed on a $1 billion deal to do a final world tour a few years back. Yeah, they're really concerned about you being their last fan.

All I said was I hated some songs. An opinion on music. And you replied:

Fascinating. That's how I judge music. By how much money it makes. And how decadent the musician's lifestyle is.

I don't know. I think classic rock stations will have to either be playing stuff from the 70s-90s or reinvent themselves. There haven't been any songs like that released recently. Everything seems to be disposable pop or album-oriented artists like Radiohead and Arcade Fire.

Rock has always produced the lasting songs/acts and rock is, unfortunately, dead - save for the live club scene (and many of those acts are cover bands) and, with nobody hearing their music on the radio, there will not be a chance for acts to build a following similar to bands like Zeppelin, Allman Brothers, Skynyrd, Heart, Boston, Journey, etc., etc. and it is why, whether in name or in reality, all these 50 something and 60 something year old rock stars are still making the rounds.

I just figured out how old I'll be in 30 years and it ain't pretty. I wonder if an oldies station will play Rebecca blacks "Friday" for a throw back Friday tune.

I guess the good news for guys like us - everything is already pretty much on demand, so if you know what you like - you're golden. If you're looking for something new, you're going to have to work for it, but I think the internet is getting better at guessing what you might like - a bunch of that is geared towards selling you stuff, true, but that technology can be used for this type of thing.

Because everyone thinks their taste in music is superior and yours sucks. Lots of immaturity on any message board. This one in particular breeds self professed elitism.
