If you can afford it get the jack plate. I've gotten out of several sticky situations because of my jack plate

Not sure if its been said but meeting the power restrictions and adding a hydraulic jack plate makes life so easy. Trim tabs are nice too

there are a lot of responses here that have nothing to do with a jack plate or your original question. Get one. For the boat you have, it will help you tremendously when you get caught on a mud flat or are running through shallow water.
You will gain draft as your motor is the lowest part of your rig without a jack plate. If using normal trim to make your motor not the lowest part of your rig, then the higher trim actually digs the motor farther into to mud.
I have a boat hull similar to yours without a jackplate. when I repower, my new rig will have a jackplate.

Also Anton7, If you do add the Jack plate have the dealer add a Water Pressure Gauge or do it yourself. When running down the bayou, you would want to kept an eye on the pressure gauge when raising the Jack Plate.
