I don't see monitors getting to 4k anytime soon but I could see those high resolutions everywhere else just upping the market in pc's to make something like 1600 more common. Pc market is different than tv so 4k may not work because i feel like most pc enthusiasts are smart consumers. Most tv consumers are morons that listen to whatever best buy tells them. It will be interesting to watch. I just want to see 1440 and 1600 come down in price over the next couple of years so when I go that way it will be cheaper.

4k displays in 2yrs.
Monitors will get higher res displays before everything else. They always do.

What would you consider reasonable for a 4k monitor? Lol

What do you think 1440 will cost in a couple of years?
Posted on 3/20/13 at 10:32 am to Mr Gardoki
Hopefully what 1080 costs now.
Coyote I wasn't trying to say that 4k will never be the standard. I was just saying its going to be a pretty good while. I inferred that Bruce was asking if he should hold off on moving to 1440 or 1600 in anticipation of upcoming 4k. I feel like if you want higher res you should go ahead and move on it rather than wait for the next big thing at this juncture.

Yea 4k is 2yrs out at an extreme for most and resonable for aome price point. I would purchase 1440 now tbh.

Hard to believe from Mr Titan
I just got to 1080 so I'm sticking with that for now but i picture in the next couple of years I will go 1440 so I am hoping the prices come down. I almost want a 120hz just for fps but I just got mine not that long ago and i like it.

I want another 120 also.. Just hard to pull away from IPS and IPS 120hz displays blur like hell. They start to get nasty around 85-90fps.

Have you seen the yamakasi 300 sparta or leonidas?
They look so awesome, but I think 30" may be too big

Yes, I have a 120 IPS.
They all suck, it is in the IPS technology. Awesome picture but you get a ton of blur at high frame rates. I was going to change my PCBs in my CrossOvers before buying the Yamakasi OC. Good luck I didn't because the motion blur isn't terrible just you "notice" it.. you know?
Sort of like screen tearing, it isn't bad until you played a game for a while.

Blue I'm also with you about 30".
Sometimes I feel like 27" is too big.. But really enjoy the gaming experience on 27 for the most part. Some games smaller form factors are better and larger others I guess.. Like civ5, didn't u say you enjoy it in surround?
I know racing games are much more fun at larger resolutions or form factors.

I see what it's hitting on the motherboard. what about some little plastic spacers between the mobo and plate?
