Even with the pre-Oscar hype surrounding the movie, it still delivered big time for me. In fact it was one of the most emotionally charged movies I've seen in quite a while. Great job all around by Jennifer Lawrence, DeNiro and Cooper IMO.
Also, big props for the use of "Girl From the North Country" by Johnny Cash for the dance montage in the middle of the movie. That one sunk the hook in me.

In my opinion I don't think it was best picture but it was rightly nominated
HOWEVER, Bradley Cooper is phenomenal in it and should win best actor IMO

Didn't realize there was one, I may do that.

Don't disagree with that. I haven't seen Lincoln or Argo (yet) but I have seen Zero Dark Thirty (wasn't overly impressed but that's a thread for another day).
Anyway, SLP was darn good and relatable in so many ways. Well worth the watch.

I saw this on Saturday and it was a great flick. I would recommend.

Saw it this weekend. Awesome movie. Deserves all the hype it gets.

Love it, an instant favorite of mine in the genre.

Performances were better than the story.

Saw it Saturday and thought it was great. I think Argo was better. I liked Lincoln more, but I'm a big history buff. SLP hit on more deeper levels and I felt I could relate to the character.
I was disappointed that there were very few people in the theater with my wife and I, maybe 40 people for an afternoon showing.

Wow. I really have to see this movie. I hate watching things and being let down by hype, but it seems that this one lives up to it.
Is it more drama than comedy? Because I don't feel that's the way they market it.

I would say it's more drama than comedy.
It reminded me of 50/50 a lot but not nearly as sad.

It's fluff and it reinforces the truth that the Oscars are a joke. Bradley Cooper is the anti-Christ.

they changed it to be more of a love story than it really is.

We are the opposite. I hate a full or crowded theater. I will wait till the last possible showing if I can so it will be empty. I will not go on the weekend either, unless its sunday afternoon.

I saw SLP a couple of weeks ago and thought it was really, really good. DeNiro was absolutely fantastic, as was Cooper, who exceeded my expectations exponentially.
I saw Argo last night and have to say that it was slightly better. Ben Affleck was robbed in not getting a nomination for Best Director. He did an incredible job.
I saw Lincoln, and I enjoyed it, but those who aren't history buffs will probably find it exceedingly long and boring. Daniel Day Lewis was fantastic though (as always).
My pick for Best Picture right now is Les Miserables. I was blown away by the scale of it, and Hugh Jackman was simply fantastic...

Kind of sucks for him that he's in a category that's stacked this year. He was just as good, if not better, than Lawrence and De Niro in the film, but has to compete against DDL, Jackman, and Phoenix.

I said this exact same thing earlier today. I thought Les Mis, other than The Hobbit, was my favorite movie this year. I liked it more than Argo,SLP and ZD30.

Actually a Bob Dylan song. Cash was lending a hand to Dylan on his John Wesley Hardin LP. Awesome to pull that classic out of nowhere. In fact the entire soundtrack was terrific.

My wife had been wanting to see it for a while so went and seen it the other night. Glad I did was a great flick and to boot I met Marcus Lattimore.

Just got back from seeing this. First and foremost I wanna say what somehow nobody else has said yet in this thread which is COT DAMN jennifer lawrence looked good. Dat arse, Dose tits, whatever. And for the final dance scene, that cream colored outfit, yowza.
Anyways, I enjoyed the movie and thought it was really good, but I'm a little surprised at how much love it's getting. One of the best movies of the year, one of the best movies of it's genre, etc...eeehhhhhh I just don't see it? And no, this isn't the contrarian "hey look at me I'm gonna say the opposite of everyone" type of thing here because I DID like it and DID very much enjoy it. I guess I just maybe don't think it's as incredible or perfect as others do.
