Lemire
Braves hitters will set a single-season strikeout record. Atlanta's 1,289 strikeouts last season were the 22nd most in history and 240 behind the record set by the 2010 Diamondbacks. In the offseason, Atlanta replaced high-contact hitters such as Chipper Jones and Martin Prado (and one high-strikeout hitter, Michael Bourn) with a trio of high-strikeout hitters in B.J. Upton, Justin Upton and Chris Johnson. The Braves' preponderance of strikeouts won't be a detriment to their success -- the projection here is that they still make the postseason -- because it will come with a corresponding boost in their power numbers.

Venters left today's game with an apparent injury. Was his first appearance in 13 days.
And so it begins

What if it's all mental and he just sucks now?
It's mental and physical. Should have moved him this offseason while he still had some value. Relief pitchers are like place kickers. They can be awesome for 3 or 4 years and then completely fall apart. This is actually the case for the overwhelming majority of them. There are way more Eric Gagnes and K-Rods than Riveras and Wagners. Combine that kind of volatile nature with injuries and it will just accelerate the process.

Good for him. From out of baseball for four years to making a big league roster. Incredible stuff.

@mlbbowman: O'Flaherty will start today's game to prevent him from sitting in the cold, windy conditions before pitching.

Pitched well.

Did he let the ball go through his legs ala Bill Buckner and then trip over his untied shoelaces while chasing it down?

his last batter was the pitcher. 4 pitch walk
after giving up 6 in the inning without recording an out

Jesus....I don't even think catfish is capable of that level of fail. Dude needs to reevaluate his career choice.
