I can assure you the people I know close to Lawson are die hard LSU fans. The gripes have come from the way the situation was handled. No one I know is going f*** Miles and LSU. The timing just really sucked. Selfishly I hope the kid goes to LSU. Close to home, top notch program, etc. But I do look past what I'm hoping for and hope he chooses the best situation for him. While to me there are no other schools than LSU, that probably isn't the same for everyone. To be honest I could care less if he ever stepped on the field, more important to me would be him getting a college education. While I am sure there are some bruised egos in all of this I am sure coaches, parents and friends of the family will help guide him to the best situation for him.

So this 6 page cluster Frick boils down to this:
No grade problems, no problems?
I think we see happen every year with some kid and some school.
Note to kids: keep your grades up!
Then there is never a problem.
Noone to blame in these situations but the kids, every single time.

Yes, the kid forced the LSU coaching staff to extend a "scholarship offer" way back in March. Shame on that kid for accepting the offer and then turning away every recruiter that tried to contact him for the next 9 months. It was totally the kids fault that 10 days before national signing day, after being an official commit to LSU for the previous 9 months, and passing every course that was necessary to academically qualify, that the coaching staff pulled the scholarship offer for the 2013 season.

Greyshirt not a bad option for someone that was going to need a redshirt anyway
Ask Elliot Porter
Miles didn't pull LSU offer, just changed it
If he did it to get Bower, that was a bigger need at DE or it would have gone to RN #1 player in the country

I am hoping he signs with LSU. I'm worried he may be getting some bad advice.

Great. Great for him.
For his situation, however, it needed to never be a potential issue.
Everyone who is "close" to a potential D1 recruit would do well by that kid to make it damn well sure known to him that there should NEVER be an issue with your grades.
Then there are never problems like this one.
ALWAYS on the kid. 100% of the time.

If his lifelong dream was to be an LSU tiger, if that has been his goal since he was kid, then he shoudn't let anyone/anything get in the way of his achieving his dream. Not coaches or circumstances or roadblocks. He should grab ahold of his dream and not let go. Tell the coaches and anyone else, "you aren't taking my dream away from me. I am playing football for LSU, period". Flush everything else.

then what's the NCAA clearinghouse issue?

I understand your angst about * gasp * the unbearable unfairness of it all, but excuse me if I don't break down sobbing about his situation. He can still go to LSU, he just has to wait a while. If I was told I had to wait a while and then I'd get a free ride to LSU, have Moffit turn me into a specimen, and wear the purple and gold in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night, I'd cry for joy. So the kid has to realize at age 18 that shite happens and that dreams sometimes get deferred. Big fricking deal. Not ideal, but big fricking deal.
Try as I may, I just can't summon tears.
He has several excellent options for his life that most of us never sniffed.
I have worse shite happen to me every week.

I do not mean to laugh at your expense; just appreciating your summation.

There is none. It's a Les Miles excuse so he doesn't look like the bad guy that pulled a scholarship offer that had been on the table for 9 months just 10 days before NSD.
I have not one time argued on here about Lawson's value as opposed to other recruits in this signing class. I have just pointed out that Lawson will be academically elgible, and that Les Miles is putting out "spin" so that he doesn't look like he processed a kid.

Link me to the quote where Les Miles said Lawson will not be eligible. I've seen a lot of people inlcuding those connected to recruiting site say it but I don't recall Miles saying it. I might have missed it so link me to the quote.
