good stuff from AJC-
On their way to a 14-4 final mark, the Falcons won eight games by seven points or less and faced just two playoff teams during the 2012 regular season. They probably can’t count on winning as many close games, will face five playoff teams and could have brutal winter trips to Green Bay and Buffalo.
LINK
The Falcons have some key decisions to make on mainstays like center Todd McClure, defensive end John Abraham, running back Michael Turner, cornerback Brent Grimes, linebacker Stephen Nicholas, left tackle Sam Baker and safety William Moore. The team is also waiting to hear from tight end Tony Gonzalez, who is set to retire.
If the Falcons want to bring back Gonzalez and re-sign Baker and Moore, they will have to renegotiate several contracts and make other financial cuts to gain additional cap room.
Releasing Turner and Abraham could net the Falcons $10.4 million of cap space. Other players like Nicholas, Robinson and right tackle Tyson Clabo could be renegotiation prospects.
LINK
Glad to know they're right on our heels for cap pain. Methinks their personnel decisions are much tougher than here (Smith, Vilma, etc)
For the two variable games this year they get Washington at home and go to Green Bay (deep December ). Saints have Dallas at home and go to Chicago (early September to coordinate a Wrigley Field visit too)

There's a zero chance they'll repeat this season's success.
Regardless, we really should stop talking so much about the Falcons.

Just curious, how do you know what time of year they will play?

Can't say zero chance but odds are against them going 13-3 again and/or getting the #1 seed in the NFC.
Their schedule is much tougher - no one can bitch about that next year.
I also think that Abe and Turner are done in ATL. We simply need the cap space and that can be used better for younger guys. It definitely is interesting though. I think one thing that's left out is Matt Ryan's in a contract year now. If he demands Drew Brees type money - I actually believe Matt Ryan may be done in ATL.

Not a chance they let him go. But he ain't getting Drew Brees money. If Flacco breaks the bank, then expect him to approach that, but not more, regardless of what Drew makes.

This, and there 4-5 close games were by playing the easiest schedule in the NFL.

Who is his backup anyway?

Not you too blues.
I can't one freaking day without seeing a Falcons thread.

Highly unlikely they get 13 wins again. I read once where the likelihood of back to back 13 win seasons is extremely low. I think barring injury they win 10 games at least though. Solid team across the board.
