So how does the series end? Death? Defection? Life Sentences?
My ending: They keep on keeping on, until the Soviet Union goes belly up and cuts them loose. Now they're real Americans, with a meaningless, boring, suburban life. No more daring exploits, with an annual Florida vacation the most excitement they can look forward to.

What was said at the very end that had the Soviet guy so big eyed?

Do you think the piercing of her daughter's ears was her way of trying to toughen her up?
I'm having a feeling that each side's assets will be chasing one another.
I think they turn into sleepers waiting for their next orders while living the American life.

I think if the series goes on for a while, at least one of them will start working for the home team.

They were talking about a missile shield negating their nukes. Star Wars I think.

As in the US was developing one or something? Would that really be that big of a surprise to Russia to know the US was trying to prepare to be able repel a nuclear attack?

Look up the Star Wars project LINK
quote:
The Soviet response to the SDI during the period March 1983 through November 1985 provided indications of their view of the program both as a threat and as an opportunity to weaken NATO. The SDI was seen not only as a threat to the physical security of the Soviet Union but as part of an effort by the United States to seize the strategic initiative by neutralizing the military component of Soviet strategy. A major objective of that strategy was the political separation of Western Europe from the United States which the Soviets sought to facilitate by aggravating allied concern over the SDI's potential implications for European security and economic interests. The Soviet predisposition to see deception behind the SDI was reinforced by their assessment of US intentions and capabilities and the utility of military deception in furthering the achievement of political goals.[69]

Star wars was a huge surprise and it was largely a bluff. The soviets were scared to death of it. Also if they make it until the soviet union falls Russia wouldn't pull them out. Do you think Russia no longer has spies here?

I am surprised they didn't kill the woman and the kid after. Could have made it look like she had a heart attack to keep the FBI off the bug. I guess she was Casper weinbergs maid. The Russians also actually used an umbrella poison like that. I saw it on a CIA show I watched several years ago.

I didn't have time to watch this tonight. Where can I find it online later? Does FX put up full episodes of their shows?

Show is very well written. I like how he was suspicious of the maid being able to bring her purse into the office. Subtle tie in to how paranoid all were in the soviet union and how nobody was trusted. Culture shock for him. Caviar was spot on as well as the masses never had money to buy the good stuff.

Just watched the pilot on FX's site. They've got another winner on their hands.

Someone could come up with a reason why Russia wouldn't use them anymore. Not knowing when the next orders would come would let you make up your own ending. Them defecting would be just to have a "win" for America I would think.

Boobie Miles in the next episode

Sure they do, they're mostly after trade secrets and such now, which wouldn't make for riveting TV. And it's not just Russia. A friend of mine who travels a lot told me he never talks business on an Air France flight because the seats are bugged.

I've heard that before too. There are spies everywhere.

One thing that I don't get is why they are answering to general zhukov. He died in 1974 and the timeline is in the 1980's, what gives on this plot hole?
