re: #15 Pick Dion Jordan Oregon

I would much rather trade back and get Matt Elam than Vacarro. Elam is a playmaker. Every game I ever watched he was making big hits or getting a crucial interception. Vacarro to be as talented as he is, is disappears alot. I'm all for the best pash rusher at 15 tho. Harper will be good In the new scheme. And Jenkins will be serviceable. Hankins has bust all over him to me. So nose isn't a must. I think a cheap Casey Hampton would be the best way to go there.

The guy just looks skinny. His numbers don't really impress me as a li nebacker with 44 tackles. Idk how he was used.
But really he just seems skinny to me.

So who would you take if Jarvis dropped and mingo is on the board and so is Dion Jordan.

What is the percentage that he drops to us though, Hopefully he does bad(In a good way)And drops to us so basicaaly I hope that teams get scared of his Spinal issue I think he will be a Monster.

Currently I'd call Jones or Mingo longshots at #15 at best- 10% or more likely less. Jordan at 50% and likely less post Combine.
One thing I think Jordan has a distinct edge in is pass coverage. Oregon used him as a wild card lining up all over the place. He was a WR-TE his first years there. So he knows routes and has hands. I truly think he may be the new prototype to be the NFL answer to Graham, Gronk, and all the giant athletic TEs coming on.

See, I don't understand this. Everyone is complaining about needing a great pass rusher, but you want to draft a guy more known for pass coverage. And I'm debating with someone in another thread who is saying how important it is for OLB's in a 3-4 to be able to cover people. How many 3-4 OLB's can rush and cover really well?
When I watch 3-4 teams, I always see ILB's covering TE's. Even in the Super Bowl, the Ravens had freaking Ray Lewis covering Vernon Davis, not Suggs or Kruger. Bowman and Willis are responsible for covering TE's for the 49er's, not Brooks or Aldon Smith.
The main reason I want to wait until the third or fourth round for an OLB is because I don't think Jordan is that pass rusher everyone wants. That's why I said it would be different if Jones or Mingo fell to that spot.

That's fine for your opinion. Just recognize your opinion is out of line with consensus. If right you can crow about it later. If wrong eat crow.
I wanted Brian Cushing over Jenkins, woot woot
I add the coverage note cuz he is distinctly better in that. That and DCs are desperately trying to find matchup answers to these new breed TEs. Jordan might out jump Jimmy Graham on some back corner fades. (see above)

will copy who exactly we need from another thread-
6-3 245lbs
3rd Rd pick, #60 overall
Swilling Sacks in NOLA from '86 to 92-
4
10.5
7
16.5
11
17
10.5
then they trade him to Detroit for a 1st & 3rd rder. Who were those you ask? Just Willie Roaf and Lorenzo Neal

I think Mingo and Jordan will put up big numbers at the combine
Same here
MDS I think his size and speed are rare. I don't know how we use him but in todays pass happy attacks i think he has skills to contribute. How many times...and not just us have teams wished for someone to cover the no#1 TE?
Junior Tez Dion and perhaps a Phillips in FA is a great start to a OLB krewe in the 3-4.
All depends though on what holes Loomis fills in FA.
They love BPA in NOLA

Kenny Vaccaro will be a steal in this years draft..
alittle undersized, but overall a great ball player.. hope he does well wherever he goes..

6 ft. 1 in. and 218 lbs. is undersized for a safety?

Combine bump, curious, anyone that wondered about him turned into a believer this morning?
Must watch video of him with McGinnest. Many of you remember what a dominating presence McGinnest was in his prime. Ya gotta love Jordan next to him.
Looking more n more like a Could he be available? question more than a Should we? one

Jordan is a freak. But, he's about to have shoulder surgery and will be out 3-4 months. I'll be happy with any position on D. If Xavier Rhides is there I want him. 6'2 217 CB with long arms.
Posted on 2/25/13 at 11:02 am to jamal
Milliner is having the same surgery as Dion Jordan. He could be BPA. Rhodes, Banks, or him would not be a shock pick by any means.
We'll see how free agency plays out to gauge how need plays into the Saints pick.

I don't see much of a splash in FA unless they gut this roster.
Posted on 2/25/13 at 11:13 am to whodatfan
My realistic but hopeful UFA targets are Shaun Phillips and Victor Butler at OLB. Switching to a 3-4 ot would be nice to have some players that have played it in the NFL before.
Methinks Brees & Sproles will get Phillips on the Come on aboard ex-Chargers train- If they like him like that.
---------------------
MFer, McGinnest just interviewed him again and nicknamed him "The Giant". Mayock's one word summary? Upside.
I'm kinda liking the shoulder surgery issue. It might be enough nudge to push him down to 15. Jarvis Jones I still doubt at 15 even with him off many teams boards. If he is on your board he isn't going past 15 for a team looking at the 3-4 guys.
