It certainly could

But it's impossible to know what would have happened in the absence of the blackout

Did the blackout cause the Ray Rice fumble? No

And that contributed to the 49ers momentum

Does "momentum" exist? Yes

Is momentum vastly overrated by fans in the outcome of the game? Also yes.

I'm sure that sitting on the sideline for 88 minutes affected focus, play calling, stamina, etc. which were a contributing factors

The fact that they got to catch their breath and refocus after the kick return WAS HUGE
