Qualifiers certainly aren't highly watched, and neither are some CL matches.

Yeah if Otelul 'Sunil' Galati beats SK Slovan Bratislava 5-0 in a UCL preliminary qualifying tie and the o/u line was set at 4.5 goals, very few non-gamblers are tuning in to watch.

I doubt Iceland/Bosnia is a highly watched fixture, and that could totally be a WC qualifier.

Orevbro wouldn't have wrongly sent off Abidal
The only wrongful thing about Abidal's sending off is that it was about 45 minutes late. He should have been sent packing for his last man tackle from behind on Drogba in the box.

It wasn't Barca - Chelsea... for one thing the largest amount transfered (was to a person in an eastern european country as well) was about 125,000 pounds ... which is not enough for an entire team or even a player who makes that in a week at one of those huge teams to be worth the fallout.

Ok maybe it wasn't fixed for gambling but it was certainly fixed to avoid two straight all England UCL, more specifically Chelsea-Man U, finals.
There is no debating that.

There's plenty of debating that...
Short of legal evidence in the contrary it's far from a fixed judgement

I posted about this in the thread on the Italian match fixing a few months back.
Some of the initial people questioned/arrested in Italy made statements that claimed exactly what's in the news today: the scandal was rooted in Indonesian organized crime with ties mainly through Eastern Europe with the highest concentration of activity likely being in Germany, Switzerland and Turkey but effecting all of Europe on a pretty wide scale.
At the time, it seemed odd to me that only a few Italian papers published or made much mention of these claims and not sure any outside of Italy. Even odder today.

i'm hoping at least one of the matches during bvb's unbeaten rampage last year was fixed

Apparently 1 of the fixed matches was Liverpool vs Denambren... they bribed the D keeper to let in over 2.5 goals... pool still only scored one

Keep your head in the sand if you want. There is no way a ref that rose to that level of his profession can be that bad on his own.

I sorta wish it would come out that Roma's GKs have been taking some of these bribes. The more plausible explanation is more worrying.
