If I had my druthers, I think this is the type of lineup I would like to see tried before others, with last year's SEC-only batting averages given:

1 – R - Raph Rhymes (DH) (.458)
2 – R - JaCoby Jones (2B) (.282)
3 – R - Mason Katz (RF) (.299)
4 – R - Ty Ross (C) (.287) (3rd highest returning BA & OBP behind Rhymes & Katz)
5 – L - Tyler Moore (1B) (.254)
6 – R - Alex Bregman (SS) (--)
7 – L/L/L - McMullen / Laird / Stevenson (LF) (-- / -- / --)
8 – R/R - Ibarra / Foster (3B) (-- / .184)
9 – L - Chris Sciambra (CF) (.263)

* -- Edward could play whenever Moore or McMullen do not.
** -- Barash could catch on Sundays if and when he’s ready to do so.

Of course I realize that this isn't going to happen at all to start the season, because Rhymes will be in the OF, and Katz will be at 1B, but if I ruled the world...

Rhymes leading off?
I think he's more an RBI guy.
You want runners on when he comes up, and in this case you have the bottom of the lineup ahead of him.

Using this lineup, I'd like to see something like...

1. Jones (batting leadoff and in front of good hitters should get him more fastballs)
2. Rhymes
3. Bregman/Katz
4. Katz/Bregman
5. Ross
6-9 will sort itself out

The main thing is, I think we can use the 2 hole as a more productive spot, use somebody that can actually get some hits, as opposed to someone whose main contribution is bunting the leadoff hitter over IF he gets on base.
