I think Hicks or Bunkley would do fine at NT. we need a DB or OLB desperately

Nope. He may be had as late as the 5th but starting at round 3 I think he's a good pick.
I'm a big LSU fan and he was something in 2011, but no way does he go as early as 3. NOLA would be a terrible place for him to be. BUT, it would be great to have his ball hawking abilities in some nickel packages and have him on ST's... If he's there 5th or later, maybe, but I bet someone does get him by then.

Irrelevant. I hate LSU. This is about the saints.

Yeah that's kind of my point. He was more than something.

I don't care because

If he's a good player I don't care where we get him past round 1 so long as we get him. Things become very unpredictable after the 2nd round. Bottom line is, I think he can help out our defense. You must admit he is an intriguing prospect.

Not irrelevant. I don't give a shite if you like LSU or not. I do and as a big LSU homer, I wouldn't want to see the Saints use a 3rd round pick on the guy. Make sense?

Absolutely intriguing. Sure thing? Not at all. You're gonna hate this as I bring up LSU again but remember the guy screwed over his team and teammates because he couldn't help himself from getting in trouble. Whether for or against weed or synthetic weed is not the point either. I don't know where you're from but I grew up in NO and there's plenty of trouble if you want to find it. I had to leave to get away from all my friends and drugs, jail, and death for some.
I hope he's grown but this shite just happened a few months ago. NOLA is not a good place for him. What's he worth if he's suspended and out the league in 2 years? If he goes somewhere else, I think he can make it. JMO, but I don't think it's out of line.
If the Saints do take him, I'll be cheering him on big time! I freaking loved the whole HB thing

See my feeling is you can get in just as much trouble in Seattle as SD as KC as NOLA and so on. I think LSU fans have on purple and gold glasses in one way or the other
A) honey badger!!!
Or
B) Thug POS
Either way he showed natural talent in college and who knows if that translates to the NFL but if it does...holy shite will he be good.

Absolutely. But it's about vicinity. His "friends"/family are in LA.

Well the saying about purple and gold glasses would mean everyone is looking past his troubles, so that doesn't really apply how you used it. BUT, I know what you're saying. I don't think he's a thug POS. I think from my post, you can tell I wish well for the guy and maybe not being in NOLA can help him succeed.

Hit submit. But no doubt! I really would love to have him on the Saints if he can replicate what he did in 2011 to some degree. Just amazing. That's the risk/reward with him. I still think 3rd round is too high at this point for the Saints with their other needs.

Ill be happy so long as we get him or mingo. frick LSU but damn it if I'm not in love with some of their defensive players

While I'm trying to not be a Debbie downer what makes you think this? The dude hasn't even seen the field and he can be something great? Obviously it's all potential but I wouldn't reach that far. I would take and apply that comment to Wilson/Gallette much sooner than Broughton
I accept that. I just meant on a size/speed/athleticism scale, what they bring to the table as a tandem may be unmatched. Now there's much more to being a great pass rusher than just those qualities which is why I said potentially.

Where'd you find information that said he bulked up because last I read he was 255. Also if adding 17 lbs didn't diminish that 40 time then adding 15 more surely will. I've heard about players gaining weight once they reach the league but to put on 30+ lbs and still effective is a lot to ask of a player imo.

1st round, we probably go either pass rusher or Hankins to be the nose. If Sheldon Richardson is there, though, I want him. Dude could easily play 3-4 DE. He has a motor that doesn't quit. He could be our Justin Smith.
In round 3, go after the best available player at a position of need (NT,OLB,S,CB)

I'm thinking, unless the mocked miracle Jarvis Jones drop (alliteration!) occurs, Lane Johnson will be the pick at 15. The best thing about him is that he has experience at both LT and RT, so if by some miracle Charles Brown plays well enough to win the LT job (or RT, which he has played but really doesn't belong at), we could just put Johnson at RT. I think Brandon Jenkins has a legit shot at being there in the 3rd round and I would absolutely love the pick. He gets bitched around in the run game, but he has an insanely quick first step and some good moves to get after the QB. You can't ask for much better for a ROLB in the 3rd round. If he had played his senior season I really think he would be right there with that 2nd tier Jordan/Mingo/Ansah OLB talk. And if we go with one of those three in the first, I wouldn't be upset if they draft Jenkins anyway. Especially if they get Jordan in the 1st, who I think would work out well as a LOLB given his excellent coverage skills.

Lane Johnson probability skyrockets if no other free agent or Bushrod signed. Hard to imagine Brown being ready but that has to be considered (Bushrod fewer reps before he started). Somebody signed up and OT need falls off the chart 1st Rd.
Good call on Brandon Jenkins. he might be the best OLB to hope for in the 3rd Rd. Lemonier better but more likely gone by #75. Will have to study up on Jenkins more.
Could be a law firm draft, Jenkins & Jenkins. DT John & OLB Brandon. Move Cameron Jordan to the right side and draft Dion Jordan for a Double Jordan attack.

NFL.com. But they do not have updated 40 times of course so i just used his mid range time from his draft data. He could be a little slower than that not. And for comparison Brett Kiesel (Steelers) 6'5" 285. Sure he didnt see the field last year, but does that really matter with how poorly we did anyways. Just saying he has the size and speed to potentially add depth to 2 positions. Maybe he just wasnt able to catch on last year with schemes that apparently no one really did.

Double Jordan attack, I like.
Thrillo mentioned Jarvis Jones dropping earlier. I'm starting to think that it might not be as remote a possibility as thought a month ago. Multiple reports have been coming out about how he doesn't test well in workout situations. The reports mentioned him being mediocre in practices but dominating on Saturdays. This, along with the question of his spine, has me wondering if 1 or 2 workout warriors could potentially pass him up. I'm not fully convinced that we'll get any sort of sniff at him, but the probability seems greater than it did before.

Mingo's less than standout year also is in our favor. Any of Jones, Mingo, or Jordan would fit the bill. If at least 2 QBs could go before #15 our odds of getting one of'em increases greatly.

I don't see Broughton as a 3-4 DE at all. He is kind of small for a 4-3 DE. It's the same reason I laugh at people who say we could use Will as a 3-4 DE. I really think some people don't understand the differences between 3-4 and 4-3 personnel. Now I absolutely see Broughton as a 3-4 OLB.
272 pounds is small for a 4-3 DE? 6'6, 272 pounds is not someone who should be playing 3-4 OLB. Will Smith is listed at 282 pounds, but looks to be more like 290. Either way, he definitely has the size and power to be a 3-4 DE. You sound like someone who doesn't understand anything about 3-4 defenses.

Mingo was put on this planet specifically to wreak havoc as a 3-4 OLB.

Yea, supposedly the Raiders are in love with Geno Smith(which is hilarious). Also, anybody who follows the draft knows the Buffalo gm flatout tells the medio what he's looking for and he's said he wants a franchise QB, hope Glennon or Wilson impress him.
