Was looking at roster the other day and noticed Powell was not on it. Anyone know what the deal is?

If he has a standout year at LSU-E, I'm sure we wouldn't be afraid to take him back. LSU-E has been pumping out talent recently.

Wanted playing time he was not going to get this season at LSU so was given an opportunity to go there and play. He is currently the starting catcher for LSUE. Can play a season in Eunice then hopefully be back at LSU.

Yep, good chance we lose Ross after this year.

Thought Powell was a corner infielder, not a catcher.?.?.

More of a catcher than a first baseman, but Katz has first locked down and he'd be competing with Ross and freshman I can't remember at catcher. I liked his swing, though.

Definitely a catcher first, but can play INF as well.

This pretty much, no chance to start this year and at LSU-Eunice he's automatically their starting catcher. If he excells there I'm sure we bring him back in to compete for C/1B in 2014. He would be competing with Chinea and Barash for C which is really top notch competition...but 1B will be open with no clear cut frontrunner.
