Yet half this board will gripe that 2A schools don't want to play them The 5 A schools didn't want them so they sent them to AA but now it's unfair.

5A?
Please fill me in, I must be stupid. When did John Curtis ever play in the State's highest classification?

Curtis can beat up on inferior competition. Congrats.
Put them in a respectable 5A district, and they'll lose two or three games a year.
For as good as a program as they are, they don't produce the top notch college football talent like you think they would.

The program isn't designed to only produce next level talent, it is designed to get kids to follow a system and learn to be good football players while also developing themselves as great athletes. Sure, there are some stars, but for the most part the team gets it done with guys who wait their turn till their junior and senior years and are hungry to get in and play.
Curtis doesn't cut any athletes, therefore these kids who may have been cut at other schools as a freshman may turn into very good athletes if they have late growth spurts. I actually see it pretty often.
Also, if you think Curtis can't win 5A, you really haven't seen them play. Their line is huge, and all their skill players run track and have national caliber speed.
