I wonder what makes it different now than 30 years ago? Why are there less injuries in Rugby?

I played rugby at LSU for a little bit and j played high school football. The collisions in football were harder. I can imagine the force an NFL or college LB hits with. Rugby players don't have helmets so they can't hit the same way either. There's no leading with the head. Football helmets and pads allow for harder collisions.

Can't speak for everyone ... but, I tend to protect my head better if I'm not wearing a helmet or a hard-hat.
