he can win 10+ games and win the SEC west, but ask yourself if that is truly satisfying for you
if he's in the SECCG game every few years than he has a better chance at a NC than the vast majority of coaches out there.

LSU is a powerhouse program now and is expected for what he makes to win national titles!
no coach in any sport is "expected" to win titles every year

He is referring to Bama's mulligan in 2011 and the fact that OSU was on probation in 2012 allowing Bama to play this year.
AH. That makes more sense.
I make the argument that if tOSU wasn't on probation they wouldn't have been undefeated though.
First they would still have the vest coaching for them.
Second they wouldn't have been playing with the same mentality they did this year, and the teams playing them would have looked at the games a little differently.
They may have, but I think they would have lost 1 along the way without Meyer.

Not true. tOSU CHOSE to play in the Gator Bowl last year and sit out this year. They wanted those seniors to play in a bowl game.

I guess I forgot that part .
I still say teams would have played them differently and they would have played differently.
Remember Meyer saying that the team wasn't talented enough to win and all that. I'm just not sure the attitude would have been the same.

That was a bad conference last year. They still would've run the table.

This is true too. I'm grasping at straws here I guess

Name me the long list of coaches who have been more successful than Miles on the past 8 years.
Go...

This 10 win shite is for losers and people who don't mind playing second fiddle to Alabama.
So tell us how you would handle things.
Fire Miles?

Mile's hasn't won a NC since 2007 and really shouldn't have played for that one because he didn't deserve to, but there was no better team out there at the time.
Huh? Please tell me you realize this is an inherently contradictory statement, and you're not that stupid. Please. Pretty please.

"All this being said, if he can't get us over the top in the next 2-3 years, I want him gone."
Problem with this is, if he does not accomplish this he will still have 3 or 4 years left on the contract that will have to be paid (assuming the next 3 years he does not receive another extension), thanks to the most recent contract extension and raise. This is why I had a problem with the raise. It's not so much a problem with the money, but the years. If he proves to keep trending downward, LSU will have to hire a new coach and pay Les (who at this point would have grossly under achieved). I think Les will pull it all together in the next year or two, but if he does not, this site may need therapy.

We were 13-1, ranked 2nd in the nation just one season go.
Tell me more of this downward trend you speak of...

It's partially true, but it's a game all coaches play. Not sure why you are afraid to admit the truth.

But what all the posi-tigers have to understand is this is business. When you are paid the 4th highest pay in your industry you need to perform to that standard also. Meaning a 10-3 record, finishing 14th in the polls and losing in the bowl game WILL NOT SUFFICE.
and with the business of college football, you don't take 1 slightly disappointing season to judge the entirety of a coach's body of work. alabama went 10-3 the year after saban's national title in 2009. would you say the same thing about him? my guess would be no
First, you might not want to compare us to Bama because you would lose that argument, they have won 3 of the last 4 BCSNC's our last BCSNC was 6 years ago. Next if you read the entire post it states very clearly "Les gets a mulligan this year, he has earned it from last years performance." But you don't get a mulligan every year. And when you are getting paid the 4th highest pay in your profession "news flash for you" expectations come with the pay. I don't want to hear "10 juniors left for the NFL next year" which you can bet that is what it will be.
Expectations are you should be playing in the SEC Championship game every other year and at worst 1 out of every 3 years especially with our talent. So let's see if he does that. We missed this year let's see what happens in 2013.

With raises come expectations and Miles just upped the pressure on himself. Not that it matters, he could win 8-9 games a year and survive.

he's at 1 out of 2.6 seasons at this point, so you should be satisfied
