Why is that exactly? Maybe if he was recruiting for Michigan during dead periods or something, but if he was listed as on the staff at WKU, why wouldn't be be allowed to recruit like any other assistant?

Slippery slope. Whats the difference between alma mater and any other school? (thats what they would say)

He was unpaid and just recruited for them. That would be like LSU having Shaq in his prime to go on the road recruiting for basketball for us. Or Patrick Peterson going to all the best DB's houses in the country and convincing them to go to LSU. What if Peyton Manning recruited for UT?

I just thought that was illegal.
