The bottom line is that we have to beat Alabama.
LSU did beat Alabama in 2011

We can lose one of those other games (UGA or UF) as long as we beat Bama.
LSU did not lose any games and beat Alabama in 2011

If we swapped out UGA or UF with a weaker east opponent, guess what, we still have to beat Bama.
LSU beat them all and played an extra game in 2011
So who won the BCSCG? The team with the weaker SOS and the team that played one less game. Looks like people are seeing the reality of CF.

Even if LSU beats Bama, what are the chances they go unscathed against Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and A&M?
We don't play South Carolina next year.

If Bama loses to LSU, what are the chances they still win the rest of their games? Still pretty good.
Bama has to play A&M at A&M the second week of the season.

The issue is that Bama doesn't have to deal with Florida, Georgia and South Carolina... and we do.
No we don't.

PacWilly, the counter to that is that it leaves LSU with a margin of error of just one game. If Bama projects to go undefeated due to excellence/advantageous scheduling, your season is over if you lose to them. Perfection every single year as a prerequisite for the division title is a ridiculous expectation. Even if LSU beats Bama, what are the chances they go unscathed against Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and A&M?

I know we have to beat Bama. There's no getting around that, and Bama has to deal with us. The issue is that Bama doesn't have to deal with Florida, Georgia and South Carolina... and we do.
I respect the chest-beating aspect of saying "frick it, we're LSU, we're not afraid of anyone, we got this." You and others like you are awesome for saying that. But those who are creating this situation are counting on you to say that. You're playing right into their hands. This isn't about who's a pussy and who's not. It's about what's logical and fair. After all LSU has accomplished in and for the SEC over the years, don't you feel a level playing field is the LEAST we deserve?
Not to mention Bama's margin for error is TWO games against LSU, along with finishing THIRD in the SEC. Much different standard that you can tack on to their already rediculously easy schedule, which is another huge advantage.
That is the whole point of this post, it is what is fair. Look no one is saying that Bama is not a good team, they are period end of story. No one is saying that Bama does not have a good coach, they do. No one is saying the LSU is not a good team, they are. I am not saying Miles is not a good coach "although I realize some people don't think he is" I am not saying that.
What I am saying is it should be an equal playing field for all teams period and it is not. It is a given that you have to play everyone in your own division. And I get it that the SEC offices have forced everyone to have a rival from the cross division "I personally don't agree with it, but it is what it is" but for the SEC to schedule UK for Bama when first and foremost they know IT WILL NOT BE A GOOD GAME, and second to just hand Bama a victory when they could be tested against UF, UGA or USC just reeks of bias. Think about it, would college football fans rather see Bama vs UK or Bama vs UGA, UF or USC.
My point being the only team that benefits from the schedule is Bama and it is not only not good for the SEC in general it does not put all the teams on a level playing field.
I am not afraid for LSU to play any team, I just want all the teams in the SEC to have equally tough schedules "as much as it can be done" and setting up cross division games that actually are equal in strength can and will make a difference. The SEC office has the time to get it right to make it fair to all teams and not beneficial to their home state team.

All the SOS arguments go out the window if we can't beat the team that matters.
SOS matters. If LSU played Alabama's schedule and only had to get up for one or two games, including the Bama game, it would be LSU and Miles getting the accolades for being a "Dynasty". Just look at last year. During the regular season, Alabama had one rough spot on their schedule, LSU followed by A&M at home. They should have lost to LSU, limped back to Tuscaloosa banged up, but undefeated, then lost the following week to A&M.
Meanwhile, LSU piled up the injuries playing A&M and Florida on the road and Washington and South Carolina in TS. And before any of you knock Washington, I would have taken UW over Michigan on a neutral field all day long.
It's exactly like the argument against Boise State. It's easier to beat the one big team on your schedule if you don't have to do it week in and week out.

You can't count UW as a big game for LSU that LSU really needs to get up for and then just discount Michigan and say "Oh I would take UW over Michigan, so that game doesn't count as a tough one". Bama also had to travel for that game while we played UW at home.

Take out UW and Michigan altogether and the argument is still valid.

I think if you dont play a tough schedule you shouldn't be able to qualify for the BCS Championship. Why isnt there a process in place to regulate this?
LSU and SEC schools in general are constantly falling below other conferences in the rankings because we are forced to play and beat each other. While other teams skate by with a great record due to low competition.

That is correct the argument is valid. How about the crap the SEC administration shoveled down everyone's throats in 2012. Bama has to play UGA between the hedges, that would have a been a tough game right. No the SEC in all their infinite wisdom says they want to help the Missouri Tigers out and get them a big game at home with national exposure and welcome them to the SEC. So they take the UGA game off of Bama's schedule and replace it with Mizzou and say they are doing that in the best interests of the SEC and what is great for the SEC exposure.
That is all a bunch of horse sh*t from the bias for Bama in the SEC home office. Who gave a sh*t about watching that game, but how many people across the nation would have watched the Bama vs UGA game.
The problem is not enough people bitch about the inequities and the favoritism while the SEC tries to rig the deck as much as they can get away with.
SEC administration this is for you you cheating f*cks!!!!
Let's see how your favored son "The Gumps" fairs if you put any combination of UGA, UF or USC on their schedule in the same year along with the SEC west schedule like you make LSU play. Make it a level playing field then let's see what happens.
