My argument is and always has been that 4GB is enough...for now.

Things change and as long as they hope to get out of consoles (8/9 years on the current gen) it's silly to think that 4GB will always be enough.

I am sure in 2004/5 MS and Sony thought 512Mb was more than enough and by todays standards that is laughably bad. Developers have said that is not enough to do everything they would like to do these days.

As cheap as ram is it would make sense to "future proof" a console as best you can and at least add 2-4 more GBs.

From what I posted in my previous post it seems like Microsoft's extra RAM is going towards Software/Kinect 2.0.

I don't know, if that's true I can't really see 8GB of slower RAM being any more beneficial than 4GB of faster RAM dedicated only to gaming.

In other words the way it looks the PS4 will be engineered to be a pure gaming machine with more power, the 720 will fall in between the PS4 and Wii U in terms of power. It's interesting though because Microsoft are intent on saving a lot of money on memory and GPU from the looks of it and then they allocate a lot of RAM for some sort of software function. I'm thinking maybe it might actually be true that Kinect 2.0 is going to ship with all 720's
