The jam band community accepts them as a jam band I think. But Les himself would laugh at that notion.

Oh you know him personally? Because I don't think he would laugh at all at the notion, considering he started a jam band with Trey Anastasio and Stewart Copeland called Oysterhead.

I think Les would laugh at any label a person attempted to put on Primus not because there is anything inherently wrong with being labeled a jam band.

Maybe. Maybe not. I read an interview with him about Oysterhead. He talked about meeting Trey Anastasio and seeing his first Phish show. He was completely amazed that there was a community within the rock genre that held musicianship and improvisation in such high regard. I'm pretty sure he was completely unaware of what bands like Phish and Grateful Dead were doing. Since then he's always been emmersed in that scene.
