Got a question that came up the other day. If you run a gun serial number and it comes back stolen, say for a friend, that calls you, and is thinking about purchasing a gun and wants to know if the gun is stolen, does the office then expect for you to bring the gun into the station?

Anyone have any luck buying an AR at academy or Walmart around NOLA? I feel like academy on vets gets a stock everyone now and then and they disappear

I imagine the procedure for handling this varies by dept but I've actually done this. Reported to the agency that had jurisdiction over where the gun (seller) was and let them handle it from there. also did a report to document everything and to cover my arse.
To run a check for a friend I wouldnt openly do it over a radio.
