Actually, that's about all they do these days. Graphics, MP with leveling up systems, and loot...there's a Blockbuster title for you.

If people want PC gaming to evolve past console bottlenecks then they need to support the industry. There are only a few PC centric developers and they ALL lose a huge percentage of their sales to piracy. But even those developers don't get too far ahead of curve because it isn't profitable to develop for minority of gamers with high end rigs
