11-5-11 LSU 9 Bama 6 GAME #1
Total Yds LSU 239 Bama 295
Passing Yds LSU 91 Bama 199
Rushing Yds LSU 148 Bama 96

1-9-12 LSU 0 Bama 21 GAME #2
Total Yds LSU 92 Bama 384
Passing Yds LSU 53 Bama 234
Rushing Yds LSU 39 Bama 150

11-3-12 LSU 17 Bama 21 GAME #3
Total Yds LSU 435 Bama 331
Passing Yds LSU 296 Bama 165
Rushing Yds LSU 139 Bama 166

Game #1 Les outcoached Nick. Our QB play was poor but bama could not run on our D. Poor FG kicking by bama did them in. AJ had a ok game with 1 interception.

Game #2 Nick outcoached Les. No passing game resulted in no running game. Defense got tired. AJ had a good game.

Game #3 Les had good game plan but tried too many trick plays. Passing game was good-Mett was on target and WR's held on to ball. Running game was ok. AJ had fair game--Bama had 2 fumbles.

AJ was QB for all 3 games--imo average QB talent but exceptional knowledge of offense, pocket awareness and had good to great protection.

Most glaring change in all 3 games was our passing numbers in game #3. Obvious RED ZONE problems. We had Ware and Shep both HS QB's for wildcat. Most short yardage situations we went with 2 TE's. I personally like to keep spread formation with 3 WR's and 1 back set for anything more than 1yd. Fire Away!!

Solid. Interesting comparing numbers. Game #3 looks like the game we should have won. #2 is objectively as it was subjectively bad, especially considering that a proven offense was kept on the bench to watch an entire 4 quarters of this shite and was never given an opportunity to turn things around.

We had 1 very good offensive game, but lost. Bama had one pretty bad game and lost.

Bama had 1 exceptional game on the same night that we had our worst game and they won handily....although even there it was very close on the scoreboard into the 3rd quarter. I call 12-0 still close but fully admit things were very much in Bama's control that night.

Make the same comparison for just the regular season games during the NS tenure at Bama. Admitting that 1/9 was our worst and their best.... That happens and it did. Other than that the record, coaching, and scores are VERY even i suspect.... So the "gap" is not wide....but that seemingly slim difference has been enough to set them atop the college football world in the past 4 years.

Good stuff solid facts. Thx

Looks like two pretty dead even programs and teams pounding away on each other each year.

I couldn't agree more. On the 4th and 1 we brought Ware in and ran a QB sneak. All 11 guys were lined up tight. I think we would have been better off having Mett run a sneak from a 2-3 wr set.
