Good article on this business of college football and players leaving early. This can hopefully only help our football recruiting

That article has logic, and doesn't imply that the that the program is in a Maverick and Goose flat spin. How can it possibly be taken seriously?

This line disturbs me:
"Not one of the full-time starters from the 2011 defense that helped carry LSU to the BCS title game is still on the team."

Only thing that disturbs me about that line is that they weren't able to win a championship.. The fact that most of those guys had the chance to leave early speaks to how scary good and talented that D was

Reminds me of the situation with the women's bball team a few years ago. We were loaded with talent but couldn't win it all. Then the wheels fell off the bus once SA and Co left.

That would make a great t-shirt and/or sign for gameday.

makes it seem like he did...i was just asking a question because he was very much so a full time starter in 2011 unless they are talking about still on lsu's team and not a nfl team...the quote is out of context so i took it as not on nfl team because of the OP's title...i didnt read the article its way to long
guess we should ask author of the article

This is the nature of college football, and why so many people get so geeked up about recruiting. How many of Bama's defensive starters from that year will still be there in 2013? C J Mosley is the only one I can find, and he would have easily been drafted had he decided to leave.
This is not the time to panic.

I still think it is risky for a player to leave early if they aren't garaunteed at least a 3rd to 4th round pick. If you don't make the squad, odds are that staying another year only could have helped. IMO Mingo, Minter and Montgomery could vault themselves into millions more if they stayed longer. Granted they will still make plenty of money, but that is money they will never make back. I'd probably leave if I were them though.

None of these guys are losing millions by leaving early.
