I've seen this thread in the past, and the Jason Statham thread got me thinking of it (though I'm thinking more famous than him)
Harrison Ford
Denzel Washington

Tom Cruise is the answer to this question. Hey Tom Cruise, let's have you play Hitlers good buddy, he's going to sound Russian and speak Russian at times, don't you worry about it though bud we have you an outfit and am eyepatch... Just be yourself.
A lot of comedians do. But it doesn't bother me when a comedian plays himself multiple times. Hey your a funny dude, be funny in every movie. I'm not expecting you or holding it against you that you can't be funny in an Irish accent or playing a mentally retarded guy. Play yourself.

Kevin Costner. He has the same accent in Robin Hood, dances with wolves, waterworld, and field of dreams.

Also in life in general.

May have been the same accent, but he was a straight badarse in Hatfields and McCoys.

Was that good?

Obvious Jeff Goldblum.
This is one that really bothers me, but I haven't seen her around lately: Michelle Rodriguez. Every damn line she says is some sarcastic quip. I stopped watching Resident Evil because of her, and she made SWAT the ultimate shite fest, although she had plenty of help.

I thought it was pretty dang good.
Kurt Russell seems to play very similar roles in most of his movies. Not that I mind him as an actor, but just an observation on my part.

Yes sir!
But I must preface that by saying I am a HUGE history buff. So history movies and mini-series' are very appealing to me. That may not be the case to others on the board.

Goldblum is a great answer, but he's not really a factor anymore. Costner is good too, but every once in a while, he'll hit the sweet spot as far as roles, Tin Cup being the best example.
Denzel is probably my answer. I won't say Sandler cuz it's a given and he quit really trying anyways.
I might get some grief from this, and I love the guy, but Michael Caine is another one IMO. He's great, but you know what you are going to get with him.
ETA: Throw in Liam Neeson.

I usually really enjoy them. But I didn't know they made hatfields and mccoys. I'll check it out.

Michael Caine accent is so strong that it's hard for him to do much else. It's like he was born in a deep pit populated by men from south London and didn't hear anyone else talk till he was a man.

Just... No. Compare Dumb and Dumber to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or Man on the Moon to Ace Ventura. His comedies incorporate his brand of humor, which makes the characters he plays fairly similar, I'll grant you that.

It was done very well by the History Channel. Usually when you think "History Channel", you think cheesy docu-drama. However this was a full fledge quality production with Costner and Bill Paxton. Very well acted and very well produced. I would most certainly recommend it.

ETA: By the way, be prepared to either watch for 6 hours straight or watch it in different sittings. It is a 3 part series that will take time. But again, worth the time.
