What are some good shops in the BTR area with a good selection that you have experience with? Thanks.

I stop in one by my house from time to time to check and see if they have any guns or silver. I do not know why I do this. Every time I go in I walk out disappointed. The prices are high. There was a Glock G23 one day in there that was 20 dollars more than a new one at Academy.
My brother asked them once what would they give him for his new S&W MP9. Wanted to see how low they actually buy guns for. $150 is what they said. What a joke this one place is.

Me too. Every time I do, I wonder two things:

Who is desperate enough to not be able to wait 2 days to sell it on craigslist?

Who is dumb enough to pay a pawn shop the same price as a new one?

This is what I am wondering...gonna call a few today...looking around for a Remington 12 gauge. Not sure how they would sell any if theres no difference in price vs a new one from say Academy

I'm not in BTR, but in Shreveport I have had success. I'm looking forward to the post hunting season sale of shotguns. I can probably turn a profit on some if I play it right.

I often wonder about that as well. I am not hooked on crack or meth, so I don't know how desperate that is.

People with no credit, little income. They can layaway that item and pay $30 on it for a year.
These are the same people that rent their TV from Aaron's.

Which pawn shops do you frequent? I havent found a decent selection in the ones i've been too. Unless you want a HiPoint of course.

The one outside the North Gate of the base used to have a really good selection, just can't remember the name. That's where I got my 1911.

Max's usually has a decent selection, you just have to be on top of it. I know a couple of the people who work there from going in often enough and they let me know if they get something in that I might be interested in.

My biggest advice is to do your research before you walk in the store, only deal in cash, and always be willing to walk out if you aren't comfortable with the price. Talk about all of the issues the gun has, and more often than not they will deal. Usually I can get them to knock at least 20% off what their list price is and not pay tax (gun listed for $189 + tax, I offer $150 cash out the door). Also, if I know a gun has been there a while, I low-ball the shite out of it. They want products to move. A gun that has been on the shelf for a while is wasted space for them.

Lastly, timing is very important. They are less likely to deal on a shotgun the two weeks before duck season, but are practically giving them away come May.
