Do you think this is a good rule for a club thats trying to see some good bucks or is it unnecessary?

depends on deer density and ratio of doe/buck

I don't think shooting an animal on a food plot greatly negatively effects hunting there in days to follow.

Point in case, three of us took deer on three consecutive days all on the the same food plot.

I shot a doe Sunday am, buddy shot a doe that fell in the exact same spot on the plot that evening, then Tuesday afternoon different buddy drops a big 6 pt that was standing where the does fell when he pulled the trigger.

all shots 175 yrds long from same box stand.

our club stopped shooting does after a certain date this year (12/15 or 12/20) in an attempt to have more does on the property during the rut.

Idk if that resulted in more does being killed before or what but we have killed 7 bucks in a row now. All 8-10pts

As of Sunday the deer count was 15 bucks 14 does

interesting, i think the rationale behind this is to keep place as quiet as possible to make bucks feel more comfortable.

I also can not stand when people shoot does after the rut. Shoot a doe before it has a chance to be bread. Afterwards let them walk.

You know a doe before the rut isn't pregnant, shoot it and let the buck breed a different doe. When you shoot one after the rut you could be taking out two new deer for the future

This is a fairly common practice.

Guy in our club shot a deer in a plot. Wounded it. Found blood but could not find it. He took a shite just behind the plot on the trail leading into it. Old man, has to go when he has to go. 3 days later I see 3 deer in the same spot one being a 6 point. The next day the old man shoots the 6 point I passed up.

Its just good hunting sense. If you are shooting does that time of the year how do you know a buck isnt 5-10 minutes behind her cold trailing? We always had this rule and it went till the last weekend of the season but I always pushed to have it extend through the season.

As far as not shooting them in plots... Ive heard of this but never really understood it. I guess it may help to keep any other deer that are in the field at the time from becoming nocturnal when feeding in plots.

what is the difference between shooting a doe before or after the rut? If you kill it before the rut or after you have eliminated that does chance of producing offspring.

IN my county you can only take doe in bow season and then again with a rifle on thanksgiving weekend (right after peak rut here)
