How do you come to this conclusion after saying what you said?

I think it's pretty clear. When Saban possessed a large talent disparity in his advantage, he still almost lost to Miles. So I see no reason to believe that he would take a less talented team and win. There's nothing in his record to support it. Meanwhile, Miles has taken Saban to the wall with inferior teams. So it stands to reason that, given a change in talent levels, he would have won those games.

1. Miles is a poor recruiter of talent in relation to Saban's teams

not poor, but Saban is the best recruiter in the nation. I am perfectly comfortable stating that Saban is a better recruiter than miles, given that he's the best recruiter, period. I think the gap is narrow, but there's still a gap.

bviously if Saban is on this historic run and talent is equal, Saban is doing something above and beyond Miles in the last 5 seasons.

Yes, by losing one less game, he has won two more titles. He's had easier schedules and he's had a lot more luck. He could have been on the outside looking in both of these last two seasons with NO CHANGE IN RESULTS. If Okie St wins the media war last year and KSU this year (or OSU is not on probation), then, with the same exact results, Bama does not win a national title either year. Factors he did not, and could not, control broke his way each of the past two seasons.

It seems like Miles lets his players dictate more and over time, we have started to see a distinct difference in the programs.

If you think the gaping one loss gap in record over three years is a distinct difference, go ahead. I do agree that flags fly forever, so those titles certainly make a huge difference in the two coaches' reputations. But the actual performance of the programs has been remarkably even these past three years. They got the breaks. We didn't. Life sucks sometimes.

But if you want me to panic over the state of the program because we are one game worse over a three-year span than arguably the most successful team in college football history then you'll be waiting a long time.

This.

It's ridiculous and embarrassing.

That one loss, as you say (reality though is the last two losses to Bama costed us two titles but whatever), and that razor thin edge separates winners and losers. If a team consistently lands on the losing side at the end of the day...what's the difference.

I think Miles is a good recruiter. He is pulling from the state with the highest per capita of NFL talent in the country by far. We have prob around 10 players jumping to the NFL THIS SEASON alone.

What did we do with all that talent: ZERO BCS bowl wins. I didn't just say National titles, I said BCS bowls. Think about that for a second.

LSU is not in a vacuum. Other teams are obviously rising to the occasion as of late with LESS NFL talent.

So what makes the REAL difference?
