Delusional Fan Base - UTexas Fans - Saban replacing Mack

I work with some real numbnuts over here in Houston, and the UT fans are very confident that Mack will be the AD and Saban will replace him as HC.
How do I call them idiots while still maintaining a professional atmosphere?

It is pretty comical.

Tell them that Saban is a SEC coach. He's over rated. His defense would get smoked in the Big 12. He plays old man football.

Dude what are you talking about, there was proof in the game last night.

Its not that far fetched. Do I expect it to happen? No, but if Texas set their sites on Saban Bama sure can't win a bidding war if it came to that.

Bama could arguably match a Texas offer, even up to 10 million. They could come within reasonable distance at less. Regardless, Saban's original contract with Alabama was for LESS per year than he was making with the Dolphins.
He's not going to leave his situation at Bama for a worse conference just for a minimal pay increase.

It is not about money with him. He has that. It is about what he wants to do next.

Exactly. A guy like saban doesn't buy himself treats. All he cares about is the job. I don't know what he's gonna do, but I would find it hard getting excited about next season if I was him. I would want a new scenery. Saban just doesn't seem like a college coach, but he won't find a better situation to win championships than at Bama. Maybe UT, but wouldn't be that much better

Has anyone ever been an A.D. and position coach at once? Saban might go for that deal if Brown coaches QBs!

Yep. If they really make a run at him, they can make the REC look at their hole card.

i get the same feeling about saban. he is the best coach in college football by far, but something about him is different. when you look at some of the best college coaches, both present and in the past, they all seem to have some very deep roots to a school. either their alma mater, or a different school that they happened to fall in love with and stay at forever. if not that, then they seem to be the rah-rah type(like a pete carroll). i get the feeling that les miles loves lsu, but i dont get the same feeling with saban about alabama.
im not saying this is a bad thing, it just makes him different than any other successful college coach i've seen. i dont think saban is after the biggest paycheck, nor do i think he has a "dream job(school).

The same Les Miles that flirted with Michigan during their two most recent coaching searches and with Arkansas after this past season? He gets credit for "loving" LSU, but Saban "hates Bama and is desperate to get out" (according to some ill informed people)? Ok then.
Serious question - how many jobs has Saban been mentioned for on ESPN as a serious candidate since he's been at Bama? I'm not talking message board stuff (LSU, WVU, Michigan, OSU, PSU, UF, USC, Cowboys, Browns, and Texas 3x now). None of that stuff had legs like the Miles stuff or the Chip Kelly stuff.
At some point you have to let a man's past be his past and judge him on his present reality. He's always moved to. Better job. What college job is better right now than the one he has? He says he's done with the NFL. If he leaves he leaves, but I think from talking to coaches that he's set on catching Bryant for most championships all time in college. His best chance to do that is at Bama.

read my whole post. les miles is a michigan man. he stayed at lsu, that says alot.
to me saban is like a machine, he shows very little emotion. he doesn't seen to be in love with alabama like some other coaches are in love with their schools. that isn't a knock on saban, it's probably why he is the best right now.
all im saying is he is just different than every other coach.

Spurrier nailed it when he said Saban's never had to win at a place that never has. To be considered the greatest of all time, you'd think at some point this would be the case. Bryant won at Maryland, UK and A&M before Bama, places that hadn't won before. Saban has been fortunate, or shrewd to not have been at a place that has never won before, except maybe Toledo.

Bryant won at those places, but he only won championships at Bama. And Bama had championships before Bryant arrived as a coach. He himself won championships as a player at Bama.

When was LSU's last championship before Saban got there? In the 50's? They'd not won in so long they forgot what it felt like. There were generations of LSU fans who didn't know what a championship felt like before Saban arrived.

Saban could, with time win in Texas or any good school, but make no mistake about it. He has NO allegiance to Bama or any other place he has coached. Saban is in it for Saban period and that's it. When he leaves he won't look back.
