They didn't mislead Shep bro, he chose to change position on his own. Miles probably said he would give him the opportunity to compete for the QB position.

So your evidence that he wasn't misled is a guess on what miles told him?

And even If that were true, why are so many people so pissed at the idea of Shepard writing a book? All he's going to say in it is he chose to change positions after being told he'd get the opportunity to compete for the QB position, right?

Yeah because LSU recruits never take visits or lead on other schools

Well said, Gunner. He sounds like a very conscientious kid who was agonizing over a big decision that was difficult to make. I know what it's like to be put in that kind of situation where people are going to be upset at you either way. There's a certain immaturity in not being able to be more forceful and decisive quicker, but that says nothing against the kid's overall character or future potential imo imho fwiw btw fyi.

Kiel could have handled it better, but Coach doesn't need to be calling out guys he loses. imo

This should be the obvious statement of the thread.

It's perfectly acceptable for miles and staff to mislead players, both while recruiting them and while on the team( ie, Russell Shepard), but not at all acceptable for players to mislead miles and staff.

I don't know about RS, but he did a # on JL in the back half of last season and during the NC game (whether JL would have done anything or not). He kept saying JL would be part of the game plan...and then he wouldn't be...

I'll also add, since we're guessing on conversations this point, that last January when miles personally went to Houston ton convince Shepard to return to LSU this year, he probably told him things to lead Shepard to believe he'd get more than 26 total touches this year, and that he would touch the ball in his last 2 games at LSU.

Is this including or not including all his drops? Technically a touch...

He also allowed a half-dozen different rumors to circulate about what the coaching staff was supposedly telling people about Jarrett Lee's problems without doing anything to rebut them.

There's a long list of recruits and players that are very likely to have been misled by miles and staff to be gone through, for sure.

Stop being a jackass. Collins said he knew he wanted to go to Bama the summer before his senior year but wanted to keep it on the down low. He never intended on going to LSU but kept telling the staff he was interested in LSU

So after all the drops beckham had, especially early in the year, why did they keep putting the ball in his hands?

Look, Shep had his issues too, but as a ball carrier he at least deserved a few more touches each game with the results he had when he did carry it.

I will keep going back to this - Shep had a 78-yard TD with just over 10 minutes left to play in the 1st quarter against Towson and finished the game as the leading rusher with ONE carry for 78 yards and a TD. I've never seen a player lead his team in rushing with one carry. And LSU's offense struggled in that one up by only one score late in the 3rd...

There are some things that Les does that just don't make sense no matter what angle you look at it from.

These players and recruits speaking very well of Miles is obviously not sitting with some of the Rant

Some of you people are straight up delusional. If Shep was good at playing QB, he would have played it. If he was good at catching footballs, he would have gotten more touches. It's that simple. The guy can run fast, that's about all he has going for him. It's not like if he was secretly a badass the coaching staff would just not play him..

Because he's still a good receiver having a rough spurt, not a rough career at WR.

You think it's a net positive for LSU that an 18 year old kid not a year removed from high school is more professional and mature about this situation than the head coach of the football team was?

And what about the players that don't speak we'll of miles? Reuben randle, Brandon Lafell, Terrance Toliver, etc are constantly bashed on here for their comments towards miles since leaving.

What about the opposing coaching staff's comments towards miles?

If there are highly recruited kids thinking of coming to LSU they (and their parents) need to read this thread. Some LSU fans are nuts. They take things very personal. It's not just a game to them. My advice is to say nothing in the recruiting process. Especially if you are from Louisiana I wouldn't say a word. These parents need to protect these kids from crazy fans. I personally see nothing wrong with what either of these guys said. I don't get upset about a bunch of teenagers opinions. They are in their first year of college and both are in the National Championship game. One is playing in the game. Good luck to them except when they are playing LSU.

Neither contributed this year or are playing in the game. I guess a towel waving championship is fun though

I'd take it.
