An overlooked Brees stat from this season

Rodgers has now overtaken Brees in career completion rate. Rodgers is at 65.74% and Brees is at 65.62% now.
Brees' 63% completion rate this season was his lowest since 2003, his 3rd year in the league.
Again frick RG.

All the dropped passes hurt that plus they didn't execute many screens IMO

I hate goodell as much as anyone but I'm not sure how Drews low pct is his fault. Drew made some pretty bad throws and even worse decisions this year at times. That three game stretch was as bad as it gets

Lets see what Rodgers comp % is when he's drews age. And call me when he breaks Brees single season comp% record.
That said Rodgers is better than Brees RIGHT NOW.

Yeah definitely not RG fault but hopefully Drew overtakes him next season

You don't think Goodell's penalties, suspensions and other distractions this year had anything to do with Brees' sudden drop off after so many great years? No way in hell Brees throws for less than 66% this year with Payton around with a normal season.

Did Goodell cause Colston and Graham to drop so many passes too? I hate making excuses for everything. It's okay to put blame on the players themselves sometimes

Well it is a combination of factors. All I am saying is we had a normal season last year with no suspensions or distractions of other sort, Brees would have most certainly completed most passes. Would Colston and Graham have still dropped passes? Probably. But Brees certainly would not have had his worst completion percentage in 9 years.

I feel the same.
Even though Drew put up record numbers in '11, the offense did have a few average games in the first half of that season. (At Carolina, at Tampa & St. Louis)
Despite the absence of Payton this season Drew finished with nice numbers as well not withstanding the drops, poor pass protection & the disappearance of the screen game. With Payton back in the saddle calling plays & a healthy supporting cast, I could see Brees putting up some eye popping numbers. 5,300-5,600 passing yard, 50+ TDs & a completion % of 67-69.

Graham led the league in drops and Sproles/Colston were tied for 4th. That won't happen next year. He'll be back to well over 65% next year IMO.

this my friend is an ultimate ESPN stat. drew was starting games 7 years before aaron. so for aaron to lead by 0.1 with seven less year is better on drew's stat.
