Yes, but in the future I don't think they didn't know who he is. They don't know his name or his back story, I got the idea he's like Kaiser Soze, someone they are all scared shitless of, but don't know who he is.
Also I think the flash forward scene was just young Joe figuring it out and showing if the the benefit of the audience.

I didn't get too caught up in the plot holes of time travel, so that didn't bother me.
The child actor was great.
For some reason the makeup on JGL to make him look like a younger Bruce Willis bothered me. I really don't think it made him look that much more like BW. And when they are sitting in the diner, if you look at their ears, they are completely different.
Overall good movie and very entertaining. Certainly not the "best of the year" but I would definitely watch it again.
