After young Joe killed himself there wouldn't be an old Joe to send back in the first place so the entire movie from the moment old Joe is sent back never happened. Thinking about it makes me want to kill myself too.

multi universe theory.
It is sorta explained in the scene at the dinner between old Joe and new Joe.
The problem is not necessarily with the logic, but with people being unable to properly understand the different time travel theories of physics
