week 8: Journey defeated Def Leppard
week 9: Pink Floyd defeated Queen
week 10: David Lee Roth Van Halen defeated Sammy Hagar Van Halen
week 11: Jay-Z Defeated Nas
week 12: The Ronettes Defeated The Chiffons

The NYC music scene in the late 90s and early aughts -- with such acts as Interpol, Strokes, YYYs, The Rapture, TV on the Radio, The Walkmen, etc. -- was the epicenter for the burgeoning indie rock scene integrally intertwined with the post-punk revival generally. Arguably the two best bands to emerge from the NYC indie rock scene were the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Strokes.
So who ya got?

I loved the first Strokes record, so I'll give it to them on that alone...
I think The YYYs are good too...

Strokes in a landslide

You realize this makes no sense, right? Since you don't know what landslide means, see the below definition for clarification.
land·slide
/'lan(d)?slid/
Noun
An overwhelming majority of votes for one party in an election: "winning the election by a landslide"

Yes, and the strokes will do that

They might. But when you wrote "Strokes in a landslide", I have a hunch you didn't mean "I am voting for The Strokes; moreover, I predict that the vast majority of other posters will also vote for The Strokes."

Would you rather him use the tried and true "and it isnt even close"

I'm actually not, I just felt the use of profanity was best suited to express how dumb I thought that was and my attempt to derail that argument... Seems to have worked...
