So basically, why are people such snobs when it comes to their CC gun? Or should I become said snob?
It really depends on the person. It isn't necessarily "snobbish" though. There are a lot criteria for a CC gun: light weight, thinness, round capacity, holster type, etc. Some guys are alright with carrying a full sized 1911 and some aren't. I don't carry a 1911 because they weigh a ton. They make some lighter ones with lighter frames but why do that when I have a tiny Kahr CM9 and a Ruger SR9c that both do the job?
Also, people may be snobs about what they carry because they trust their lives with them. At least that's my reasoning. It's a strong dependence on your carry piece.

Havent read the entire thread yet but I know RRI and Spartan to be decent for cheap.
The Spartan is a lot better than a Rock Island. The only part of the Spartan that is not American made is the frame. It's MIMed somewhere else. Still, the parts are fitted in America at STI in Texas. They do a hell of a job.

I dont disagree with what you said but I just dont get it. I mean yes, a CC gun is meant to protect your life. I still stand behind my statement that any gun is better than none. If I pull my firearm, it is because there are no other options and I or someone else is about to die. If my gun malfunctions, it has no different outcome than if I did not have a gun.
The snobbish part that I am referring to is people saying that they wont carry until they shoot thousands of rounds without any failures. Maybe snobbish is the wrong word.
I agree about not carrying a 1911. I choose not to do so myself.

I didn't say that it wasn't smart or etc.
Just said that I don't do it.
I would honestly be upset if you were carrying anything else.

It's all about confidence. The more flawless rounds go through the gun, the more confidence you have on it to work all the time, rain or shine.
I agree that a carry gun is better than no gun and you don't need to shoot 8k rounds through something for it to prove its reliability. My baseline for having confidence in a gun is around 500 rounds. Then again, all of my guns have been fired at least 3-4k times. I have confidence in all of them, but some are a bit more rugged than others.
