Can Clement move to OT at the next level?

Talked to him over the Holidays and he said he is up to 270. Mike D always said that he will be a OT at the next level. I think this is a move that he can do in time.
FWIW, he played with a bulging disc in his back the last 4 games. This is why he was not running routes.

DR Pepper, you really know little as well....
NFL teams would really go for it if they thought it would be worth the resources, if they really saw Clement as a tackle, they would welcome the chance if thet REALLY saw this happening...

I think he has a better chance of making it as a 270 pound TE

Nissanmaxima, did he say that he was considering moving to OT at the next level?

This kid could probably get up to 315 and not loose any speed and not even look 315.... He would make a great OT at the next level...

He would be better off loosing 10 pounds and staying at TE. Mauler blocking TEs are still valuable in the NFL. My guess, is also if given the opportunities he could also develop into a pass game threat (not in the class of GRaham or Witten or Gates, but mabye a martellus Bennett)

Clement is a much better athlete than Herman Johnson ever was. Herman could barely move and Clement moves well for a big guy. Clement would need 35-40 pounds on a 6'5" frame. That's not hard to add. He doesn't have much body fat now. The other option is to stay a blocking tight end and stay on an NFL roster. My opinion is Clement ends up having a few years in the NFL because of his size. Clement will never be good NFL pass catching tight end because I don't think he has the good combination of hands and athleticism.

Well no shite. Herman only outweighed Clement by about 100 pounds. Clement also grew up playing those positions and bulked up, while Herman was never asked to be anything but a huge roadblock

So a guy that has never played OT, who was a run blocking TE and decent at best, would be a great OT in the NFL?? Not average or just making a roster, but great?? Right, right... Yall do realize the type of players he would be blocking in the NFL?? DEs and OLBs that run in the 4.5s. If he cant even block the average DEs and OLBs that we played against at 265lbs, how will he do it in the NFL against the best of the best?
I mean hell if he can add 30 more lbs and not lose any speed, why not let him get up to 330 and become the next Joe Thomas...
Clement was an average player in college. Thats it.

Yeah but no team is going to want to wait on him.

Clement was an excellent run-blocking TE.

Hell no. He should try fullback.

What? You think a 270 lb , not fast, guy can gain 40-45 lbs and not lose speed?

35-40 lbs on a guy whom is already past the last little growth spurt from 18-21 is not easy to do. Atleast if you want it to be muscle. Of course 40 lbs of fat is pretty easy.

Exactly. How the hell anyone can say he wil be a "great "tackle in the NFL is beyond me. He has been practicing and training at TE for 4 years and is avg but that poster thinks he can gain 40 lbs( easily) and NOT LOOSE(LOSE) speed, and be a GREAT OT in the NFL. Where there are 280 lb animals that run 4.6's. His best chance at an NFL career is to stay at the position he has been practicing at for 4 years.

Many people forget that Jason Peters was a tight end at Arkansas. He's one of the best tackles on the planet. Peters did play around 295-300 at arky though

I wouldn't say excellent. Above average.
