Why would he take a step down and go from a HC to a Coordinator? If he gets fired he'll probably go be a DC in the NFL or take another HC job outside of the SEC.

Why would Cam Cameron take a OC job at LSU? Why would Petrino leave the Falcons for Arkansas?

A DC position at a top SEC school would be ideal for him should he be fired.... NFL would be a dream for him too I could imagine.

I'd love to aek him as our DC..

I like Chief (sort of, not too crazy about his personlity, but let's forget that, I only know it from a few videos)...

But I am conviced that Chiefs MO is players make the defense, not the defense players....

And I think Muschamp and Saban have proved that their school of defense makes for greatness.

I am also buying into that Chief has lost too many games in the last 2 minutes based on his playcalling.
If one scores more points than Alabama...

Does not matter one iota, how many turnovers you give up

Maybe you mean, Score when their is an opportunity, stop there opportunities.

Basically: DON'T BLOW OPPORTUNITES
We have a decent track record in Tuscaloosa

LSU has gone to Okie - UGA level?

Is it time to realize that we are no longer where we were, but are on the road for being Oklahoma and Georgia?

Personally, I think we are heading there, but feel the next two classes will do the job and avoid such upper level mediocracy

Also, on the other hand, remember, despite Saban's success, it is hard to win championships year after year, be grateful for what we do have.

This is the worst thread, and it's not the OP's fault! Any scholly counts as a football scholly if you play football. Also, to those saying Manny won't get overlooked, that's not what the OP said. He said - admittedly replete with solecisms - he hoped HE wouldn't over look (LSU implied).

Any Athletic Scholarship counts as football, that is, scholarship sponsored by the Athletic Program.

Academic schollies do not count

UNless that rule changed in the last 3-4 years, as I know there were players who played on TOPS schollies a few years ago
Dudebro, LSU only has one loss. TOP 5-3-2-1 finish isn't out of range

I hope Les is smart enough to make his sonplay at LSU on TOPS and not take any other athletic schollie away....

DON'T WORRY, I CRITICIZE MYSELF FOR THIS POST, A LITTLE BIT JUST FOR FUN.. characters welcome

If Saban was real dirty, OR LSU was clean...

Then one of the old players should come out and say what happened at LSU, BUT wait!

Eventhough the statute of limitations would prevent sanctions...

They can always take away National Titles can't they?

And then it would open up investigations / scrutiny to the current program, right?

SO why no Saban era leaks?

Is it because all want to protect LSU's rep? Protect any issue within the last 5 years to be closeted?

Bama is being scrutinized, Miles was scrutinized by SI with his time at Okie State

Surely, Saban managed LSU as he has Alabama, so why no wistleblowers from Alabama's championship rival?

Is it because LSU doesn't want to invite the NCAA four fingers to point back?

Or is it because THERE IS NOTHING! with Saban and LSU is clean???? ha ha ha

IS IT MARK EMMERT'S FAULT (SECRET SHIELD) ????

Above all, GEAUX TIGERS!! ROAR MIKE ROAR!

WHAT THEY HECK! I'LL MAKE A BASELESS PREDICTION

JARVIS LANDRY TO THE CARDINALS!

Landry hits me as a possession receiver, as in the Anquan Boldin build.

Not build, mode

No offense at all because it is not just you

I think I know where you are coming from, as far as him getting his big hands on anything no matter how much the defender is draped over him

But I am tired of hearing people compare players (like Upchurch) to Boldin

First off it shows a little frame of reference, thus allowing for unfair or inaccurate assesments

BUT NEVER MIND THAT

Teams like the Browns, Bucs, and Panthers are looking to upgrade their firepower and he could be a starter by year's end. Plus he will finish with over 1400 yards and and 12 TDs, good enough to go to the Biletnikoff award show.

Interesting if thew Bucs, would replace and consequently unemploy Shepard

Eagles as well speaking of Shepard, maybe they would think Beckham could fill the roll Shepard failed to fill.

ROUND?

Never saw him as a 1-2 rounder before, but he is starting to convince me otherwise, but in all reality, I do not think so, Hines Ward was a 3rd rounder, He is probably a mid-to-late two to third round

Some thoughts on Beckham and Landry

FIRST, Who would you take if you are an NFL team? OR, What team(s) do you think each one would excel with?

Are they Saints? Beckham could be a bit like Lance Moore possibly... but not exactly how I see them.

Pittsburgh for Beckham???

Anyway,

Interesting DUO

BECKHAM: Started great as a freshman, had a bit of a sophomore slump, Now back to being great

Landry: Started slow, wondered where he was as a freshman as he had less than 10 receptions, and Beckham was tearing it up, showed some things to come as a sophomore, like Beckham has it together as a Junior

BECKHAM: A bred, a thoroughbred, Son of two accomplished athletes, went to Newman in New Orleans and more than likely had all he could want as far a training and nutrition.

Beckham the big city, engineered athlete

LANDRY: Center of the River Parishes, from a rather poverished area. Kind of in the likes of Jerry Rice and Walter Payton.

Landry the hard working, small town-country athlete.

BOTH GREAT TIGERS!
quote:

Sure, but that's a BIG if!

Yeah, but a win over Bama with 260-330 yards and 3-4 TD passes would boost him into being invited to New York

ALA Manziel, He who slays the king, Reigns
Russell isn't all that fat behind.... Will be really interesting against Florida...

I say good but less than the same

about 58-60 %, and in the neighborhood of 250 yards passing
quote:

chavis and i'm sure miles to some extent don't want to get beat deep and my bet is they worry about the secondary's ability to cover when LSU brings a blitz.

Jist of my post, sacrifice a few scores for some sacks...

Sacks are a good way to put more pressure on QBs as down and distance goes against them (and of course pressure on throws when guys are near-- Happened a few times to Mett on crucial plays in Athens)
quote:

The best defense is a good offense. Saints have been playing from ahead most of the year and the defense can rush the passer without worrying about the run.

Again, what about 2012?

quote:

Saints opponents are always down and having to throw

There is truth in that, but what about 2012?

Point being, a good offense needs a pass rush from the defense to be disruptive, and chances of winning is much greater...

Picayune and Advocate has several articles about the secondary, but the secondary could be helped by a pass rush

Helped greatly!

Proficient offense + pass rush is a winnign combo
I think most would agree with this, so it is not as much to bring in a new idea as to repeat what I heard

Heard on ESPN Radio that there is some site that has a rating system for almost every kind of player performance there is for the NFL

And 4 Saints are at the top for pass rush.

Saints offense is not much better than last season, but the success is much different

Why? It is not Sean Payton, it is the combination of the offense being able to score and the defense doing enough to halt the opposing quarterback so that that opposing offense can not keep up....

LSU should worry about getting to the opposing QB and keeping coverage calls simple and clear.

There is so much to discuss here in these last few days

would like to re-stress what I said before the season, I like us in 2013 as having a FUN season. But I really like LSU in 2014

I was glad to see some of the questions asked at Miles's presser,

Specifically: Man defense,

Q. You alluded to the possibility of bringing more people to generate passâ??rush. When you do that, it puts more pressure on the back end, maybe play manâ??toâ??man without safety help. Is there hesitation because of the youth in the secondary?

COACH MILES: We're probably as comfortable with manâ??toâ??man coverage with our young guys as we are zone coverage, to be honest. I think many instances a very capable cover guy breathes a sigh of relief if he just sits on a guy and takes him manâ??toâ??man.

and this was interesting:

Q. You said after the game John Chavis was sick. What is his approach coming forward?

COACH MILES: The great thing about John, he's such a veteran guy, been through so many different scenarios like this, so he's going to know just how to approach it.

We have good players. We like our players. Our coaches are in it with our players. We're not going to get other guys. We're going to coach the ones we got. I think the review and the view will be good. I think John will be great.

Q. I understand you stay more on the offensive side of the ball. When something this glaring happens, you look over a little more. Do you find yourself more involved at all?

COACH MILES: I watch every snap of every game and every special teams snap. So I always have been involved in that regard.

I can tell you that when we find things that we would have interest in changing, for instance, Chief, he knows it before I get to it. When I get to it, it's done extremely well. The questions I have are addressed. If I can add to it, I do. If I can't, I say, Well done, Chief.

LASTLY

This Alabama early spygate,

Interesting to see a guy involved with the great recruiting of Ole Miss last year move to another school afterwards, and then is involved in a cheating scandal...

Even though it was game related cheating, you have to realize that he was cheating outside his normal capacity on the staff...

Begs the question, How much cheating does he do in his own regular capacity???????

Hugh Freeze expressed confidence in Siskey and Bama, a lot of confidence, even said he expects the quality of Alabama to be able to figure things out themselves.. EVEN 3rd and 4th DOWN calls!

Calls it an unfortunate drama

Call me a conspiracy theorist!, but If the guy has things on my program, I wouldn't attack him and dare risk to challenge him fearing any rising smoke that could rise and come back towards you

Like many NCAA scandals, I do not expect much of this to really be handled with serious investigation and oversight

But I think there is a lot of smoke in this situation, more than meets the eye.

lsusa -- I can't speak to it, but Edwards seemed to make it clear LSU had the better oline
Explain to me how Cam Cameron ISN'T a viable candidate for ANY college job?

He was a NFL Head man at Miami, and a long time OC....

Why wouldn't any national program look at him?

I am in NO WAY saying that this is based on 4 college football games, he is already a top of the line coach, as his NFL resume' shows

Uh huh. Schematic wise they are close.

Edwards described it as .. UGA shows more varied line-ups and formations, they spread it out more, LSU is usually aligned with 3 WRs

He along with any that really watches LSU, are really impressed with Mettenberger, Not only does he throw accurately, but he makes the right throws., i.e. not only throws where he intends, but he has been really good with ball placement.

Edwards said LSU has a bette oline, he likes the LSU playcalling (mixing it up btw run/pass), and likes Mettengergers perfomance as of late.

Equation for a better offense, so says him

And without watching UGA extensively, I think I like it!

Says UGA is harder to prepare for, but LSU is harder to defend.

And says UGA's defense will have a harder time defending LSU than LSU defending UGA
Could Cam Cameron be looked at? His long NFL background could make him attractive to all major schools, right?
THAT picture is old.. it was only J. Landry there to hit the kicker, no lead blockers either

Being that Mills-Collins-Eugene-Loston all played last year, I do not think so when askign about where they are today
