This movie is a christmas classic. Very suspenseful and is one of the only good christmas themed horror movies. I know the killers identity is talked about ad nausem but after seeing the film again i'm 100% certain that Peter was NOT the killer.

Very creepy ending.

I tried watching this once on TCM and couldn't get through the first 30 minutes without riffing on it. IDK maybe that's just the way it goes for all horror movies to me.

The title was changed to Stranger In The House soon after, due to the fear that the movie would be perceived as one of the countless "blaxploitation" films at that time.

after reading that thread title, that was my first assumption. I've never seen it but it sounds interesting. And while we're on the subject of Christmas Horror movies, has anyone seen "Santas Slay" staring Bill Goldberg? I watched it last night on that Chiller On Demand channel. It was good times.

It's aka Silent Night, Evil Night.
The Director, Bob Clark also did A Christmas Story.
...and Porkys. Solid career. Horror, comedy and sex classics.
It was made before Halloween which gets all the love as the original slasher.

Is this a Chris Rock/Eddie Murphy movie?

The original Black Christmas is, at least in my opinion, the father of all modern slasher films.

Agreed. Carpenter credits it for his idea for Halloween. And the movie itself is incredibly creepy. Loved the ending. As far as another Christmas slasher, check out Silent Night, Deadly Night. But avoid the sequels...especially Part 2 (with the classic "It's Garbage Day")

It's influential but quite boring.

I disagree. I really enjoyed it. But everyone else might not.
