Golf cart charging 101? Help.

Just purchased a golf cart and wondering the basics of charging it. How do I know when it's finished charging? Any tips on maximizing the batteries?

Most chargers have auto shutoff. Keep battery connections clean and free of corrosion. There is a spray to keep the corrosion down. Not sure what its called. Napa or auto maint store would have it.
Keep batteries full of water if they not maintenance free.

Biggest thing is keeping batteries/cables free of corrosion. I would keep it under a shelter/carport/garage.

Make sure all connections are in good condition and the charger is as well. My old boss had one underneath his house that caught on fire against a wall and ended up burning down his whole house

Little caps on the top. Cart mechanics where I used to work always used distiller water. Newer batteries are mostly maintenance free. No caps on top.

Keep it charging when not in use, batteries will last longer Keep the water levels up as well.

Keep water levels up. Use distilled water. When not in use keep it on the charger, batteries will last longer.

I know the cart mechanics used to use a discharger. Not sure how it worked, but they said it helped keep the batteries charging fully.
Ever used one?

I was told to cycle the battery down to 20% then fully charge. Other people say to keep it charged after everytime you use it. What gives?

I've heard that also. But your car or truck charges the battery every time you run it. They last years while never getting blow 90% charge or so.
May want to find a battery company website and see if they have recommendations for that. Or club car/ E-z-go whichever brand you got.

Specific gravity tester is most accurate
Also, only use distilled water for top offs. All other waters contain phosphates which will eat away at the plates in the batteries and cause sulfation.
Edit-Get youself a good battery maintainer. They are not chargers, they are put in use once the batteries are fully charged. They keep the cells from sulfating
