So what you're saying is he did, in fact, have a chance to defend himself.
being presumed guilty and then having to turn over private documentation to a person with no legitimate reason to assume your guilt is not defending yourself as much as trying to survive a witch hunt. the motherfricker even apologized...when he wasn't even there
quote:
If this kid was facing trial as an accessory to rape, are you saying he wouldn't have supplied his phone records to prove his innocence or something?
the police would have gone to a judge to get a warrant with their PC to get the information necessary to even charge him, and he would have never been charged because he wouldn't have been in a kangaroo court like what anon is running
quote:
There is still record of their arrest and charges. Record that will come up much quicker in future background checks than the current situation.
in most states if you're found not guilty you can expunge the arrest/charge. this kid can't, and he made national news
quote:
And they did it because he fell in line with the evidence they were using against others at the time. Once again, anonymous is sounding a lot like law enforcement.
except law enforcement relies on actual evidence with set standards

quote:
Are we discussing this in comparison to actual criminal law? Because it only seems that way when it's convenient for you.
no i'm consistently comparing the 2 systems
quote:
Because in criminal law, the accused has a chance to defend himself. You are at the very least implying that this kid didn't have that chance and was already executed(even though he did in fct defend himself and was acquitted). So which is it?
the kid was put in a kangaroo court and was presumed guilty and had to prove his innocence to a person with no rules, regulations, or even a set standard of behavior that he's trying to punish. it was a faceless coward-criminal who refuses to be publicly accountable for his actions
quote:
The 10 names are the people they believe are guilty of either performing or not preventing the supposed crimes.
we don't even know what behavior constitutes a "Crime" in this situation, though
quote:
Where is your proof for this? Or is this like the hyperbolic comments thing where you are allowed to throw out accusations without evidence but nobody else is?
i said i assume, which means it's mostly a gut feeling. mainly i presume it's a local due to (1) picking this story out of many worse ones to publicize and (2) the intricate knowledge of the people, especially naming somebody as a "booster" in the 2nd video. it's just a hunch. the coward won't reveal him/herself, so i don't know who it is
quote:
But anonymous only named 10 people they believed were at the parties to go after. And you believe there were more than 10 people at the parties. So obviously, something isn't adding up here. What do you suppose that might be?
what isn't adding up is their starting point...the information that they began this witch hunt with, because they started from a faulty point and don't even know who they were accusing
if they can't even get their list of 10 correct, how do you think they'd even know who was at the party?
*ETA: if you go re-watch the first video, the group claims to be getting information on all of the football team, all the administrators, and the parents of the alleged perpretrators

You've been feeding them a hearty meal.

SlowFlowPro, all Anon is asking is for people to apologize to the girl. And its not like many people are going to look at tweets to find out who apologized. I would rather say a one line apology on twitter and for Anon to take them off the list than to be raped/peed on/filmed/laughed at/pics sent around of person naked/etc. She's gotta live with horrible things all her life while these people just need to tweet a one sentence "Im sorry". Sounds like an easy decision to me.

And around and around in circles you go. If the kid did not have a chance to defend himself, then how did he defend himself?
quote:

Another irrelevant circle. In the comparison to the criminal justice you are supposedly doing, this case is already passed the investigation and evidence gathering part and onto the actual trial. So once again, at his actual trial where he was wrongfully accused, would he not have used cell phone records to prove his innocence? And if not, then what is your point?
And also, are you saying that even with a warrant obtained from a judge through probable cause, the police have never wrongfully charged someone based on incorrect evidence? And if not, then what is your point?
quote:
in most states if you're found not guilty you can expunge the arrest/charge. this kid can't, and he made national news
So the arrest/charge will still show up in a background check, just as expunged.
And I'll ask again, what national news has this kid's name gown up in? Where is his name in the NYT article?
quote:
except law enforcement relies on actual evidence with set standards
So that actual evidence with set standards that law enforcement obtains is never planted, falsified, incorrect, incomplete, etc., right?

As I already said, only when it's convenient fr you. See above for another example.
quote:
the kid was put in a kangaroo court and was presumed guilty and had to prove his innocence to a person with no rules, regulations, or even a set standard of behavior that he's trying to punish. it was a faceless coward-criminal who refuses to be publicly accountable for his actions
Another irrelevant circle. The kid proved his innocence and was acquitted of his charges. How did he not have a chance to defend himself?
quote:
we don't even know what behavior constitutes a "Crime" in this situation, though
This is another one of those situations where technically it's open to interpretation, but only a retard would interpret it the way you are.
quote:
i said i assume, which means it's mostly a gut feeling.
So is now the time that I get on my soapbox about you accusing someone of something on an obscure Internet website about something you have no proofs of? Or is this another thing only you are allowed to do?
quote:
(2) the intricate knowledge of the people, especially naming somebody as a "booster" in the 2nd video.
They hacked the guy's email. Is it not possible they found a single email exchange about donating money to the school or football team, therefore making him a booster?
quote:
what isn't adding up is their starting point...the information that they began this witch hunt with, because they started from a faulty point and don't even know who they were accusing
Another irrelevant circle, so lets try this another way.
T = 10 + A, where T is total number of people at the parties, 10 represents the people anonymous is charging, and A represents the number of additional people at the parties that anonymous isnt going after. According to you, A should be 0 because they were charging everyone at the party. Also according to you, you believe T > 10.
So lets say there were 100 total people at the parties. According to you, that means 100 = 10 + 0.
Please explain how you came to the above conclusion.
quote:
*ETA: if you go re-watch the first video, the group claims to be getting information on all of the football team, all the administrators, and the parents of the alleged perpretrators
After re watching the video, he specifically says a list of men named in the preliminary doc who took part in the kidnapping and rape of a 15 year old girl. Not a list of everyone at the party, a list of the men who took part.
So tell me, again, where you got that he was accusing everyone who was AT THE PARTY.

SlowFlowPro, all Anon is asking is for people to apologize to the girl.
but what if they had nothing to do with the rape? what if they were just there, heard about it, or made a crude joke online?

the law is prosecuting people for this already

I guess if I really cared what other people on the internet thought about me as much as you obviously do, I would also try to pass off my stupidity as trolling.

If the kid did not have a chance to defend himself, then how did he defend himself?
he was presumed guilty and delivered private documents to a person who had no right to them out of threats
that's not a proper defense. that's a witch hunt
quote:
So once again, at his actual trial where he was wrongfully accused, would he not have used cell phone records to prove his innocence? And if not, then what is your point?
he wouldn't have been charged in the first place, and would have been presumed innocent. the police would have only had evidence from these records through a warrant procedure without threats to the individual
quote:
are you saying that even with a warrant obtained from a judge through probable cause, the police have never wrongfully charged someone based on incorrect evidence?
um, no
quote:
And I'll ask again, what national news has this kid's name gown up in? Where is his name in the NYT article?
if you google the situation you can find a site with their names and info. how do you think people on a website based in LA got that information? magic?
quote:

no. i never said that. i don't presume the state is perfect and have stated as such many times

my interpretation that there are no standards is that of a retard, but i'm asking what the standards are and nobody can answer me

i'm discussing something on a board and am stating it's an assumption. i'm not prosecuting or threatening anybody, and i admit i could be wrong. i'm not demanding anything of anybody, either. i'm stating an opinion of facts
quote:
They hacked the guy's email. Is it not possible they found a single email exchange about donating money to the school or football team, therefore making him a booster?
it's just a term that is likely to be used by somebody close to the situation. i'd assume some random person from far away would call him a supporter or contributor, and not a booster.
quote:
T = 10 + A, where T is total number of people at the parties, 10 represents the people anonymous is charging, and A represents the number of additional people at the parties that anonymous isnt going after. i never said A is 0
A is unknown to you, me and this group

i care more about discussing the situation, so i try to keep the thread close to the top
namely so those who are obviously pro-anon in this situation can explain their side (which isn't you. you're stuck on an irrelevant comment and not listening to explanation. that's why i called you a troll)

IMO if the main offenders are prosecuted and convicted, then the whole underground internet vigilantes should e-frick them into oblivion, or any administrator that may have been involved in any potential cover-up or has other nudes of students on his computer(I'm completely speculating the last part, but if it's true then frick him). Now that being said, I would be righteously pissed off if their bullshite resulted in some non-conviction of the a-hole that did something to my daughter.
