Spoilers Answers below. I guess.
Yeah Gimli is related to Thorin I in some way but I'm not sure exactly how, he was Kili and Fili's cousin. I knew this at one point. But it's not a grandfather, great grandfather type deal I'm pretty sure. Also, Tolkien never mention Legolas fighting in the battle. So I guess maybe a no since it wasn't mentioned.
