Anything with a U before it really doesn't matter here. Also, imagine the trophies England would have if they were in CONCACAF.

Again, they have failed to qualify for 7 of the last 11 WCs and only once advanced past the group stage in that time.

I didn't see him say 1966 until after I typed all that out.

Well, I think comparing the teams from the last 10 or so years is a better way of determining overall strength today than 46 years ago, but that's just me.

However, most of these "failed to qualify" results are pre-2000, and I really don't think they are that relevant to the team's status right now.
