How far are you?
Like level 22 in magic and level 13 on life..
I'm doing the 2nd companion mission now - I finished all of the avalon quest before the "7 years later" missions.. except for the double jack-o-lantern quest.. that one is a real pain with level one spells..
I just finished the 1st set of magusar quest.. if that helps

The Magusar quests are the main component of the single player campaign.

Avalon Quests are designed for multiplayer though. Tons more fun with people.

1st make sure to get your "companion" quest done, and use those guys for your single player quest.. cause as companions those guys are the strongest in my opinion.
2nd, they are so you can play all of the quest in avalon... even if you don't want to get online. I actually really like the challenge, I would do this on MH as well - play the online stuff in on a password room, by myself - for a good challenge.

Until you've beaten Magusar, you're really not supposed to do ANY avalon quests.
Once you finish the Sortiara quests, you then have 4-5 chapters of quests with Magusar.

The 'Fellow Sorcerors' quests that Baddest was talking about are good to play as well. All but the last chapter are pretty easy.

Just so I get this right, the Avalon pacts are meant as "additional content" for multiplayer (or SP if you really want). I should be finishing the Magusar quests right now on my own. Correct?
Also, say you get knocked down and the computer chooses to sacrifice you instead of save, what happens once that level is complete? Obviously you can't die and have the story go on right?

Correct!
Avalon Quests is just extra content for fun, multiplayer, and challenge.

Once you're sacrificed, you become a soul who interact by boosting attack of companions or lowering the defense of enemies. After the level is over, you get all the same items you'd normally get + martyr rewards.

Thank you sir. But you magically go on with your quests after you have been sacrificed?
Also, is there any easy indication of what the vulnerabilities are of the enemy before going into battle? Or is it a "remember it and trial and error" type thing? I know there are guides online, just didnt know if there was something in game that would help.

Keep in mind you're only reliving the memories of another sorcerer though the book. If there are any inconsistencies, you had to replay it.
Avalon pact are just kicks and giggles though.

It tells you before what types of enemies will be there. You just have to remember what each is weak too. They generally make logical sense though.

I must not have much logic. I can figure out the jack o lantern guy but...
Harpy?
Elfwoman?
Chariot guy?
Like i was saying I know i can google them. Just wasnt sure if there was a way the game helps you to not have to google.

Another question, what does picking up the soul shards while in battle do? I never seem to see how it impacts the game.
