How does a 3 star get into the AA game?

Can someone help me understand the rating and invites a little better?

Only ESPN has him rated as a top-notch player. And ESPN is generally considered the worst of all the recruiting services with their player analysis.

We can only hope that in this case, they were right. But keep in mind that this recruiting stuff is not even close to being precise - and not only for recruiting services, but for college coaching staffs as well. So, if Bain becomes a stud at LSU, it shouldn't come as much of a shock to those who feel the need to rank the legitimacy of the various services.

Under Armour is partnered with ESPN so I assume they base their invites on ESPN evaluations. I have no clue where US Army gets their evaluations from.

Edit:
Also, Bain has been playing OL this year as opposed to his natural and recruited position which is DT. Recruiting sites have to base his DT evaluations on his junior film.
