Take out the 1-15 compiled by the shite team he assembled the year after he left and the record doesn't look too bad. He sucked and made a lot of terrible decision in Miami, don't see a reason to paint a different picture.

It's hard to defend Saban at Miami though many are trying. The roster was cut to 20 players when he arrived so he helped to build that lousy team.
He also made a huge mistake in how he tried to coach professional players and NFL coaches. GE thought his college style of motivational posters and strict college type dress codes, rules etc would work.
It just didn't. Players laughed at him behind his back. Turned out he couldn't take their scholarships away.
He also built a miserable offense, just terrible. He found out fairly quickly that there are no cupcakes in the NFL schedule and he was in over his head. That was when his pitiful sneaking around and lying began.
I'm not saying he couldn't be a good coach if he tried it again, I'm sure he would do things differently but his first stint was a bust.

Freaking this. Saban coached for two years, and then jumped ship because he knew what was coming next. You are foolish to think he wasn't a failure in the NFL.
Oh, and the Dolphins, under Sparano, made the greatest single-season turnaround in NFL history (from 1-15 to 11-5). Of course, Sparano can't get credit for that because he did it with "Saban's players", amirite?

All teams listed you remove their worst season and guess what their record with Dolphins is still similar as they had 2/3 win seasons in there.
Dolphins went from 4-12'to 9-7 under Saban in his first season. From the 28th rated offense and 20th rated defense to 16th rated offense and 15th rated defense.
The fall off had a lot to do with a coach in over his head who should not have been a head coach and a combination of bad players/injuries. Cleo Lemon/Trent Green were the starters during that 1-15 season and Ronnie Brown was injured while having a good year.

Yet, of all the teams YOU listed, only one of them BESIDES the Dolphins won their division since "The Era of Saban".

No those are considered the "worst" franchises....
Look around NFL over last 5 years which franchise is worse than any of those i listed?
I mean you may as well think those teams under Dave Wannesdat I mean that 42-32 record and two playoff apparences. I mean they even finished 1st in 2002 and 2001 oh the glory days.

So, are you saying that, since Saban left, no coach of Miami has done better than he had? And you are basing this off of Saban's 15-17 record?

No actually all I said was he isn't the failure that everyone makes out because the Dolphins organization as a whole since Shula retired has been pretty pathetic and horrible. Oh course reading comprehension allows most educated people to see that in the initial post.

I think saban is bullshitting a bit here. Ultimately, I think it was his call and he sided with the doctors' opinions. Understandable but he shouldn't be completely passing the blame off.
I'm sure Drew, the Miami doctors, or Miami's front office could refute if they want.

I can go along with this. Personally, I believe a coach needs more than a couple of seasons to turn around a failing team, and some organizations are so bad that no matter of time will change that.

His 15-17 record is the best thing about his legacy there. As I said earlier, his entire coaching strategy and the way he conducted himself and the anemic team he assembled is why he sucked so bad.

He must have done something right as they went from 20th to 15th to 5th in defense from season before he got there to leaving. They fell back to 30th the season he left....
He didn't handle the players right but the Dolphins did improve from that last season of Dave to Sabans first season. He realized he wasn't ready and went back to his best opportunity.

If you only look at him as a coach he wasn't a failure. He was in over his head with the complete personnel control that he demanded though. Almost all of his signings and trades didn't work out and he drafted two worthwhile players in 2 years in Channing Crowder and Brown, who was the number 2 pick. That was supposed to be his strong suit, building through the draft.
He's obviously a smart guy and a great coach, if he went back to the NFL with a good GM I'm sure he'd succeed.

Sabans first draft he grabbed 6 players, 3 are still in the NFL as either a starter or back up and 1 washed up last season, 1 lost a career due to injury, and 1 didn't do anything (6th round pick)
His second draft had 6 picks as well and 4 of those are still in the NFL in some capacity. 7 players out of 12 still being in NFL after 5 years isn't bad and only 3 picks in first two rounds each year. Again no superstars or pro bowlers but still players that have contributed to other teams and still on active rosters. Doesn't mean he was good or bad, obviously he saw talented individuals if they are still in the NFL they just were never superstars to help him take over the team to next level.
Again all I am stating is he wasn't as bad as some like to make him out to be in the NFL. Was he great? No was he good? Eh maybe a lot of coaches have a worse record after 2 years who turn out great. We will never know as Saban took off back for college when things didn't go his way
On phone and no luck finding their 05/06 FA signings to see who was who.

You're criticizing Saban as a coach? I'd post a lol but I'll post a instead.

A bad NFL coach, yes. There's only a small group of idiots who believe otherwise.

You tell em bro. Saban has no idea what he's doing. NFL teams aren't trying to lure him back. He's getting offers while you are not, NFL guru.
